Dark Arts blends 4 malts and bags of whole hops to deliver a decadently deep and indulgent experience. A luxuriously smooth mouthfeel, is followed by spicy hop notes and full flavours of chocolate, liquorice, blackberries and figs. The finish is rich and satisfying with a lingering roasted bitterness. Our stout will convert you to the dark side.

Dark brown beer (not black) with greyish brown fizzy head that fades slowly. Primary smell is chalk, then more subtle smells of roasted malt, coffee, liquorice, hint of chocolate, and hops. Taste is bitter, lots of coffee, plums, some figs and a bit of liqourice. Mouthfeel is very mediocre, a bit watery for a stout. Nice spicy hops and pepper in aftertaste, although it could be stronger. Could be better, but certainly not bad.

UPDATED: AUG 9, 2017 Magic Rock Dark Arts, 6% - on tap at the GBBF at Kennington Olympia, 2017. Dry aroma of dark chocolate, some liquorice,. Medium body, slightly creamy. Taste starts out dry, too - with dusty black cocoa. Then turns medium sweet, with liquorice, balanced by bitter chocolate, then really sweet, and in the finish and aftertaste: Dry again, with a lasting at ertasten of dark cocoa. Interesting, multilevel stout.

Lata. Deep dark brown, close to black, nice big light brown head. Pleasant roasted maltiness in the aroma along with coffee and chocolate. Flavour has a good roasted maltiness, pleasant indeed, along with coffee, chocolate and dark fruit, medium bitterness and a some fruity hoppiness underneath it all.

[email protected] deep dark brown almost black with foamy light brown head which transforms itself to a ring around the edges of a glass. Aroma: intense, rich malt aroma, roasted grain, licorice and dark fruit esters (obviously figs and blackberries :)) Flavor follows aroma; malts with notes of chocolate, coffee, hint of toffee/caramel, gentle noticeable roasted grain, licorice, there’s also milky notes (lactose???-on can isn’t written), earthy, spicy hop character and dark fruit esters. Finish is dry, (roasted) bitter. Body is medium, texture smooth, carbonation is moderate.

Canned. Pours deep brown with a small tan head. Aroma of slightly roasted malt, chocolate, licorice dark fruits and some citrus. Sweet flavor that ends up being more dry and a little bitter. A very nice Stout.

Dark brown, weak head. Aroma: chocolate, roasted, light vinous notes. Light sweetness, burned acidity, low bitterness. Flavour: sweet roasted malt, cold coffee with bitter chocolate. Very good.

Brilliant drop...love the chocolate...liquorice roasty flavours..find the finish a bit short though.

Can at the Old Bicycle Shop, Cambridge. Very dark brown, barely translucent with a quickly dissipating khaki head. Aroma of coffee, some stone fruit, charcoal. The sweet taste is amazing. Full of gorgeous chewy malt with a light hop balance. The hop bitterness increases to the end of the sip, imbuing the beer with a fruit juice finish. Robusta coffee, ash and mulberry juice in the aftertaste. Body isn’t overtaken by carbonation; it’s soft and creamy. A complex and enjoyable stout.

Color negro con capa de espuma marrón de dos dedos de grosor (burbujas amplias y buena retención). Carbonatación mínima. Textura entre oleosa y acuosa. Aroma torrefacto, ligero cacao y café. Simple, directo y rico. Sabor torrefacto, cacao y café a partes iguales, no demasiado dulce. Ligero amargor final acompañado de un poquito de alcohol. Postgusto mínimo. Bien.

Black color, beautiful beige head. Roasty malts, coffee, and chocolate in aroma, slightly smoke too. Taste of dark chocolate and coffee, medium bitterness, light sweetness. Very drinkable but with nice body and light chocolate finish. One of my favorite beers when I just want to relax after long day.
