COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Black IPA fuses speciality malts with a tropical punch bowl of new world hops to deliver a contradictory yet cultured concoction. A classically ‘pale’ aroma and quenchingly fruity palate belies a broodingly dark and deceptive appearance. Can a beer be both ‘black and pale’? Time to consult the Magic 8 Ball.

Bottle, mybrewerytap.com. The beautiful ripe mango aroma is utterly at odds with this beer’s black appearance, but it really works. Against a background of smoky roasted malt the opposing flavours combine to produce a full bodied hop lovers dream, with plenty for the stout fans too. Lovely oily hop aroma comes in late on and there’s a long, rich bitter finish.

Opens with a heavy fruity aroma, pours almost jet black with a large off-white / purple head, which reduces soon after but retains a foam. Lots of fruity & malty hops in the taste, more sweet but some bitterness coming through at the finish. Quite soft carbonation with a slick palate. Nice Black IPA

Glass at craft beer Co. Pours black with red hue. Cream head. Floral dishwater aroma. Biscuit, caramel malts with pithy bitter finish. Medium carbonation.

Bottle from Sheffield Tap. Black with a little yellow cream head. Light stout aroma with some hops. A touch smoked, deep stout. A bit like Fullers Past Masters stout but lighter. Good.

Bottle at home. Love black ipa’s oh yeah. Almost black with a creamy pale tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, citrus n hops. Flavour is more black ipa goodness. Nailed this in minutes and loved it.

Cola-like color: clear brown/red, near black in glass, creamy off-white one finger head and nice lacing. Fruity hoppy aroma has citrus, tropical fruits, bit pine, dark slightly roasted malt is sweet: bit dark caramel. Good aroma. Crisp feel is bitter with citrus-pine dryness, bit roasted coffee, dark dry chocolate and ash, smooth but tingling, long dry-bitter finish. Well done tasty IPA that has lots character and nuances.

Draught at The Druggist, Singapore on 16-Oct-2015. Hazy brown colour with a thin tan coloured head. Aroma of citrus, floral hops and dark roasted malt. Flavour rich in tropical fruit, grapefruit, roasted malt and hops. Bitter dry finish. An excellent Black IPA.

UPDATED: OCT 31, 2012 Bottle at home. Deep black pour, quite stout-like with a creamy tan head. Nose is big on hops, grapefruit, passion fruit, hint of mocha coffee. Similar flavours, intensely hoppy, juicy grapefruit, smooth rich mouthfeel and a resinous hop finish. Fantastic example of the style.

From tap at Borefts ’14. Pours hazy dark brown with a small to medium off-white head. Aroma is quite fruity, some roasted malts, chocolate, nicely balanced. Taste has quite some roasted malts, fruitiness, red fruits, bit of chocolate and a medium bitter finish. Medium body and carbo. Nice stuff.
