UPDATED: MAY 7, 2012 Bottle from ’Jacks’ Westholme Stores, Goring-on-Thames, Oxon 07.02.12 consumed at home 09.02.12 Pours black with off white head. Good aroma, quite meaty and up front though not just with hops, some coffee, oxtail soup and pine. Taste is quite full on with good chocolate base that is loaded with hops, piney and also grapefruit but as good as the hops are, there is a lot of other stuff here, the maltiness comes to the fore and there is coffee also. Great beer. A8 A4 T8 P4 Ov17 4.1 I had this again in bottle at MyBreweryTap, North Street, Brighton,Saturday 5th May 2012 The beer was faultless, the bar however really needs to sort out some of the niggles, it just felt a bit rushed and cheap. Great beer, I cannot really add to my previous review suffice to say that it is equally good in bottle as it is on tap (I had it on tap up in Leeds). A very fine example of a Black IPA. Keg @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Extremely dark but not black with a very thin head. It’s instantly recognisable as a Black IPA with plenty of tropical fruits in its rather fizzed up texture. Its aroma is its most complex part combining fruity hops and roasted malt. olio (10592) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAY 26, 2013

Pours pitch black color with a huge, frothy off-white head. Aroma of citric hops, roasted malts, some goose berry bush and grape fruits. Flavor of roasted malts, citrus fruits, hops, some salty licorice, mild goose berries, some biscuits and grape fruit. Bitter palate, strong carbonation. Very good.

Clear purple bron beer, creamy beige head, irregular, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: citrus, grassy hops, little roasted, fruity. MF: ok carbon, full body. Taste: bitter hops, some citrus, caramel, little sweet, malty. Aftertaste: sweet notes, caramel, slightly roasted, bitter hops, dry, grassy, citrus, some exotic fruits.
My Bottom Line: daniele (9778) - ITALY - FEB 18, 2014
This super grassy Black IPA shares a few grapes and citrus fruit within coniferous resins.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A mushroom of foam sprouts from the blackness, leaving plenty of lacing on the edges of the glass.
-The grassy hop component is prevalent from nose to aftertaste.
-This is not an easy drinking example; it’s intense, and perhaps brash too.
-The resinous hop presence is sometimes redolent of longly steeped leaves.
-The mouthfeel is a bit bulky.
-This is packed with flavour, no doubt. It would surely be a hit in the USA.
On tap at The Evening Star, Brighton.

Bottle from MyBrewerytap.com. Pours pitch black with a big frothy tanned head. Aroma is heavy malty, light roasted and meaty, good hoppy aromas as well, piney and spruce, lovely. Taste is light sweet chocolate and caramel, smooth and filling mouthfeel, hops mix in to make a good balanced brew, with some good citrus and piney notes.Finishes off with a lingering sweet liquorice and bitter pine bite. Good shit. solidfunk (9440) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - DEC 9, 2014
This is fabulous, and something different from the rest. Has roast, caramel, chocolate and something that tastes like light anise or some other herb. Great balance. Black pour with good head and lacing. Light bitter finish. Tap at Churchkey. The_Osprey (9343) - Richmond, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 21, 2014
Keg at The Hope, Carshalton. Nearly black, big foamy off-white head. Aroma is piney hop, grass, bubblegum. Body is medium, a bit foamy, a touch spritzy. Taste is lightly medicinal, strong Turkish delight, pine, liquorice allsorts. Strong flavours, but not my favoured ones. Good beer though.
