On tap at the Three Tuns, Bristol 14/10/2012. Near black with moderate carbonation. Black coffee aroma with some pine and citrus fruit. Flavour was sweetish, with plenty more orange, roasted malts and a dry finish. Very good. Svesse (8601) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - SEP 19, 2012
(Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 10 Sep 2012) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with liquorice, burnt malt, grapefruit and resin. Roasted, malty taste with notes of liquorice, dark rye bread, pine needles, grapefruit and a slightly minty finish with a solid, piney bitterness. More than medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Very nice and tasty. DruncanVeasey (8226) - NUNEATON, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - FEB 24, 2012
STUNNING, hop-smothered aroma; strawberry chew and guava with a waft of peated malt, smoked mackerel with black peppercorns, and patachouli incense rearing up in the background. About as perfect a marrage of hops and malts as I can imagine. Taste: yes. Breakfast mostly- juice, smoked mackerel, slices of fresh papaya, big slug of Laphroaig. I’m not usually up for breakfast but I’d imagine that’s what people have. Body: thick, slimy malt. Good as pitch with a firm, speckling tan head. One of the few BIPAs I’ve had that genuinely fuses the citrus and smoke without either detracting from the other. Discordant, harmonious, whatever. Delicious beer. kraddel (8130) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - JUL 13, 2016
Tap at Beerlovers. Pours clear dark Brown. Small white head. Smell is aromatic hops. Bit malty ( dark malts ) taste is Sharp, hoppy, mild bitter, bit aromatic, mild grainy’ backbone. Bit creamy. jackl (8071) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - FEB 22, 2012
Bottle. Pours black with a big ol’ tan head. The nose is a bit spicy, plenty of wood, grassy hops, some bitter chocolate too. The taste is initially dry, a bit peppery, hoppy with hints of tropical fruits dipped in chocolate. The finish is long, flavorful. The body’s medium, the carbonation active. Overall, a very nice black IPA.

Keg at The Hope, Carshalton. Nearly black, big foamy off-white head. Aroma is piney hop, grass, bubblegum. Body is medium, a bit foamy, a touch spritzy. Taste is lightly medicinal, strong Turkish delight, pine, liquorice allsorts. Strong flavours, but not my favoured ones. Good beer though.
