/a. Black. Good citrus, slight piney hops, with a nice coffee roasty chocolate backing. Medium light bodied, bitter and dry. Loads of roasty flavours- coffee beans, some tar, and just roasted barley. This is actually a pretty good black ipa. Good hoppy nose, light (or non-IS) body, bitter but drinkable.
Spuyten Duyvil, Brooklyn tap: Pours black with a beige head. Aroma is citrus, spice, chocolate, and fresh coffee. Taste is quite fruity with a moderate amount of hop bitterness. The backbone of the roasty malts blends in well with the IPA character. A well-executed example of the style. AshtonMcCobb (7027) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - FEB 8, 2012
33cl bottle. Pours opaque black with a red hue and a nicely proportioned head. The nose has pine, grapefruit pith and just enough coffee. The taste has a burnt coffee note with a pithy finish. Medium to full bodied, big texture, relatively clean. Overall, a good andn interesting beer. MrTipple (6952) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 26, 2015

On tap @ Kickl. Close to black body with a medium sized beige head. Nice citric fruity hop aroma with hint of chocolate. Flavor is sweet malty, light roasted, citric fruit, rather bitter and fine balance. Medium body, bitter and sweet aftertaste, quite smooth. A pleasant black IPA.

Nice creamy longlasting head. Aroma is wet leafs, hops, fresh cut lawn, citrus peel, rubber, burnt caramel, pine needles. Taste is slightly sweet, grass, sugar, rubber, burnt caramel, pine needles, wet leafs. Longlasting bitterness, dry mouthfeel. Not a favourite.
On tap. Clear deep ruby brown with off white head. Aroma sweet and pleasant, caramel, candy, perfume. Taste is a little less sweet, some rougher roasted notes, liquorice, rye, with a bitter/astringent finish. minutemat (6210) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - FEB 17, 2014
Keg @ Port Street Beer House, Manchester. Pours black with intense roasted malts, tongue-numbing liquorice and a little too much vegetal notes for me. Couldn’t get much of the tropical fruits unfortunately but still this is an evil tasting beer with lots going on, like a stormy black cloud. mr_h (6059) - Ayr, SCOTLAND - FEB 25, 2012
330ml bottle from Nina’s Mini Market, Edinburgh - strong fruity hop aroma, black ale, decidedly bitter taste with a sour aftertaste, not very nice Garrold (5814) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - DEC 15, 2013
Keg at Rutland Arms, Sheffield. Juicy, fruity, mouth watering bitterness. Beautifully balanced roast malt character. Silly easy to drink. Could have caved myself in on this...
