COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a full-bodied porter, one step away from being a stout. Black in color, full of sharp black malt bitterness and a hint of roast barley, Cole Porter also bursts forth with a surprising hop aroma and flavor.

Had the cast at the brewery. Rich and full. Black with a dark tan head. Very smooth chocolate bitter finish. Very easy drinking beer. This was my favorite there. A must try.

On tap at the brewpub. Black with a tan head. Good lacing. Has a great chocolate-coffee aroma. Nice milky sourness. Medium, yet significant hop bitterness. The body is just right- not thick or thin. Carbonation is slightly tingly on the tongue.

Aroma: Roasty toasty with hoppy aromas coming through Appearance: Almost black with some deep red notes... very little off white head Flavor: Some chocolate and coffee balanced with a nice hop bitterness Palate: Medium bodied with a silghtly dry finish which I felt was a little astringent Overall: A very good porter... I llove the chocolate and hoppy flavors.... though porters are becoming staples in a lot of microbreweries, still a fabulous english style

Some malt astringency and very little head retention. Roasted amlt and coffee are prominent on the nose a little more subdued on the palate with more bakers chocolate and mocha notes for balance. Fairly hop forward for style although it does not come across overpowering. More noble in hop character.

Cask @ Magnolia. Pitch black, pale malt flavor before a sharp coffee note. Sweet nuts and berries in the nose. I like it.

Cask: Deep brown color with a short-lasting tan head. Very faint, slightly fruity aroma with some roasted notes. Some roasted malt flavor. A touch of hop bitterness. Quite smooth mouthfeel. A nice porter, although not phenomenal.

Good porter and cask condition smooth, but it felt light on body. Very silky out of the cask but I hoped for a little bit more roastiness and flavor complexity.

This place was highly recommended but I was fairly disappointed when tasting the beers. It was on cask which is always good but missing a wholesome flavor and lacking a good aftertaste. I don’t think I would drink this one again.

Tasting Notes from Fall 2000: A stouty porter, good flavor, more bitterness than normal. Quite a treat
