Tasting Notes from Fall 2000: A stouty porter, good flavor, more bitterness than normal. Quite a treat DuffMan (10451) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 25, 2007
Hand-pulled cask at the brewpub in San Francisco. Deepest chestnut, almost black, with a thin tan coloured ring of a head. Smokey chocolate aroma, mouthwatering! Soft medium mouthfeel, faint woodsmokiness, chocolate, nuts, and a mildly bitter finish. Delicious! jazz88 (2681) - San Francisco, California, USA - AUG 10, 2002

Appearance: Black with a small tan head and some lacing in the glass
Aroma: Roasted malts, coffee, chocolate
Taste: Coffee, chocolate, hop bitterness in the finish
I enjoyed this beer, very well balanced.
Enjoyed on tap at Magnolia. Awesome porter, although served on the cold side. Black with some brown head and brown lace.Roast aromas rght there. Bold flavours, with great coffee yet I am not a coffee drinker. Mild 30 IBU. Creamy big mouthfeel, though offset by somewhat much carbonation. Good drinkability. Some expresso. Nearly black with minimal head. Aroma has a light roasted malt profile, a medium coffee note, light chocolate. Similar in flavor with a light earthy hop presence, too. An excellent porter. Wish I could have had a few more while I was there.

Cask @ Magnolia. Pitch black, pale malt flavor before a sharp coffee note. Sweet nuts and berries in the nose. I like it. CaptKirk (175) - Hephzibah, Georgia, USA - JUL 31, 2006
Had the cast at the brewery. Rich and full. Black with a dark tan head. Very smooth chocolate bitter finish. Very easy drinking beer. This was my favorite there. A must try.
