COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our tribute to Cologne’s unique, crisp, golden ale/lager hybrid. We start with German malt and hops and tie it all together with a true Kolsch yeast from Cologne to impart some subtle fruit and wine flavors while producing the smoothness of a lager. Served in an authentic Kolsch stange to enchance the crisp, cool, effervescence of this thirst-quenching beer. Malts: German pilsner, Munich and wheat Hops: German Spalt and Hersbrucker

Draft at the brewpub. Very light hop aroma. Gold color with no head. Near medium body with mild carbonation. Seems lightly fruity with bitter. Finishes dry with bitter. Good, but light.

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2009 On tap at Magnolia. Poured into a cylinder glass, a finger of head atop a clear pale body. Light sweet malt and floral hops on the nose. Grainy malt taste, floral hops, mild fruitiness, subtle tartness. Great carbonation, drying and prickly but not too bubbly. Refreshing and smooth, light body, extremely easy to drink.

Clear golden. Aroma is lightly fruity, grassy, hint of sourness. Light bodied. Bland and boring, but not bad either.

Pretty standard Kolsch here. Nice and light in color, flavor, and aroma. Comes off with some fruity aromas for a sec... and then it’s lager-half kicks in and yeah it’s definitely a lager. Clean bitterness and clean finish. Not bad... actually it’s exactly as I expected... which doesn’t amount to a whole lot.

DuffMan (10602) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 25, 2007
On tap at the brewpub in San Francisco. Hazy bright pale yellow, thin white cap. Fairly neutral grainy aroma, lighter palate with some strong citrus fruity elements and a crisp dry finish. More like an american wheat in my mind.

(06.21.07) On tap at Magnolia Pub and Brewery, San Francisco, CA 4.9% ABV. Clear straw colored beer with grainy aroma. No head. No carbonation. Starts dry with light nutty malt flavor. Slightly flat tasting. Quick finish with light malt fade. Light bodied. Good drinkable summer beer but on the watery side.

pivo (2685) - GERMANY - MAY 27, 2007
Grainy slightly sour nose, straw color, low fizzy head. Light citrus note with a dainty broad hop bitter end. think body. Too bitter for a Kölsch, but an OK beer otherwise.

Papsoe (25059) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - APR 1, 2007
(On tap) Clear, pale golden with a small, white head leaving some laces. Rather clean, malty nose. Fairly light-bodied with a clean malt base and a dry, fresh hopping. Very quenching and refreshing. 210307

Pale yellow color, thick pure white head, extremely fizzy. Wheat/straw aroma, palate-cleansing sweet citrus finish. Thin mouthfeel.

Golden in color. Very citrusy taste with a grapefruit finish. Nice warm weather beer. Not a big fan of the Kolsch beer, but this was not bad
