COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our tribute to Cologne’s unique, crisp, golden ale/lager hybrid. We start with German malt and hops and tie it all together with a true Kolsch yeast from Cologne to impart some subtle fruit and wine flavors while producing the smoothness of a lager. Served in an authentic Kolsch stange to enchance the crisp, cool, effervescence of this thirst-quenching beer. Malts: German pilsner, Munich and wheat Hops: German Spalt and Hersbrucker

From tap at Magnolia, San Francisco. Aroma is nicely grainy with bready and biscuity malt notes, including some hay and a hint of grassy/floral hops. Flavour is light sweet and bitter. Body is medium. Very likeable Kölsh, nailed it.

The second of two Kolsch’s tonight. Tastes just about the same as the last one.

Tasty Kölsch brewed in America. Smooth and creamy with cautious hopping. Very refreshing.

Much too bitter for a kolsch. Probably not true to style. A decent beer, but some slight astringency creeping. Magnolia SF.

@CBF Straw yellow Surprised at the low scores as this was a surprisingly well put together and refreshing kolsch (had a couple of those, as well as a couple average ones).

tightslice (1271) - Redwood City, California, USA - DEC 16, 2016
On tap at FB in Menlo Park, CA. Aroma is corn, corn husk, hay, paper pulp. Taste is crisp, then nutty, then slightly bitter. Mulchy.

Marheb (5717) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 7, 2016
(En fût à la source): Céréales miellées, gazon sec, agrumes et une corpulence plus robuste qu’une Kölsch authentique mais plutôt plaisant dans l’ensemble.

culchiem (3929) - Berlin, GERMANY - APR 17, 2016
Draught at Haight St. Golden yellow with a minimal head. Aroma of grainy malt. Flavour is spicy hop, grain, malt on a tangy finish.

ffbot (417) - Oakland, California, USA - FEB 23, 2016
On tap at The Ramp SF. Pour is a clear and sparkly lager color, small head that retains and leaves a tiny bit of lacing. Smell is hay and corn, lemon and sweet malt. Lemon peel, fresh ground oats, and bitter hops in the taste. Leaves a tiny lasting lemon peel taste in your mouth

[2/2/16] Draught at Magnolia Gastropub and Brewery in San Francisco. Clear golden. Aroma of graininess, a bit of butter, a bit of fruitiness. Dry bitterish flavor, grainy, a bit fruity. Rather light-bodied.
