COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

A bold IPA in the modern, West Coast style, but with plenty of malt character from our robust Maris Otter. Generous quantities of Columbus and Cascade hops give this bitter beer resinous, piney, and citrus-like flavors while a bit of Czech Saaz hops adds a touch of spice.

Malts: floor-malted Maris Otter, caramalt, wheat; flaked barley, malted rye
Hops: Columbus; Cascade; Saaz, dry-hopped with Cascade
Food Pairings: assertive, spicy foods, grilled salmon & shrimp, pizza.

12 ounce can from ABV. Pours a clear orange color with a medium white head. A big sweet fruity toast and certainly I get some butter in it. Lots of floating particulates in it, which also seems amiss. The flavor is certainly buttery, orange peel, vanilla, butterscotch. Not the worst diacetyl but something is way off. Sweet sticky flavor. Pretty bad. Bitter and buttery.

UPDATED: APR 1, 2017 On [email protected]: pours golden, slightly clear, with tan white head. Aroma-flavor: hop jotes which takes on citruses, with some spicy character, supported with crisp, white bread like malt notes. Finish is dry bitter.. Hop bitterness is high, body is moderate medium, texture soft.

On tap from the cask at Magnolia Brewings Smokestack BBQ in Dogpatch, San Francisco. Nicely not served ice cold, it poured with remarkable clarity and a great copper color. Good malt balance, but enough hops to appeal to the hop-bomb IPA lover in me. More complex and interesting than many others in the style these days, I am a fan.

Sample at the source. A little more west coast with some pine bitterness on the finish. After drinking hazy juice bombs so much recently it is nice to be taken back to the American IPA west coast roots. Some orange citrus fruit mid palate. Bitter grapefruit and pine finish. Old skoool.

Golden color, slightly hazy, tiny head, great lacing. Very nice fruity aroma, mango and papaya notes. Also a bit of piney, green ones. Very dry, very crisp in taste. Bit more green, less fruity. Nice bitterness in the back. Rather classic west coast IPA on a green side. Good, not mind blowing.
