COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

A bold IPA in the modern, West Coast style, but with plenty of malt character from our robust Maris Otter. Generous quantities of Columbus and Cascade hops give this bitter beer resinous, piney, and citrus-like flavors while a bit of Czech Saaz hops adds a touch of spice.

Malts: floor-malted Maris Otter, caramalt, wheat; flaked barley, malted rye
Hops: Columbus; Cascade; Saaz, dry-hopped with Cascade
Food Pairings: assertive, spicy foods, grilled salmon & shrimp, pizza.

The aroma is fantastic, off the scales. The beer comes in at 140 IBU, according to the bartender. However, the taste pales in comparison to the wonderful aroma. Buy it to smell it.

Draft at Hog Island Oyster Co., S.F. Pours a hazy orange-gold, with a white head. Aroma of citrus, pine. Taste is citrus, pine, grapefruit, caramel, a bit of pineapple. Good.

From tap at Magnolia, San Francisco. Aroma has notes of berries including some strawberries, hops, biscuity malt, light caramel with some buttery notes. Flavour is sweetish with a bitter finish. Body is medium. Very different, fairly likeable, despite the buttery notes.

At the Barrel House in Sausalito. In a tall glass. Murky golden yellow with no head. Creamy vanilla and citrus hops. Medium hp finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

12 ounce can from ABV. Pours a clear orange color with a medium white head. A big sweet fruity toast and certainly I get some butter in it. Lots of floating particulates in it, which also seems amiss. The flavor is certainly buttery, orange peel, vanilla, butterscotch. Not the worst diacetyl but something is way off. Sweet sticky flavor. Pretty bad. Bitter and buttery.

UPDATED: APR 1, 2017 On [email protected]: pours golden, slightly clear, with tan white head. Aroma-flavor: hop jotes which takes on citruses, with some spicy character, supported with crisp, white bread like malt notes. Finish is dry bitter.. Hop bitterness is high, body is moderate medium, texture soft.

On tap from the cask at Magnolia Brewing’s Smokestack BBQ in Dogpatch, San Francisco. Nicely not served ice cold, it poured with remarkable clarity and a great copper color. Good malt balance, but enough hops to appeal to the hop-bomb IPA lover in me. More complex and interesting than many others in the style these days, I am a fan.

On tap at Horse Brass. Solid aroma of sawdust, lemon & corn bread. the flavor similar but milder, resin, orange & caramel. crispy in the mouth, clean finish. A Clear and Pretty darker yellow.
