From the tap poured a dark brown color with a fair amount of head. Nice toasted malty flavor with a lingering aftertaste. AirForceHops (7139) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - AUG 13, 2014
Draft at the Source. Aroma is malted milk balls (whoppers) with caramel. Flavor is again the Whoppers candy with a light bitter chocolate malt help balance the candy flavor. Im not sure what is a tad off with it. But other then the thinner body the bitterness is off setting. Not in a Black IPA kind of way either. motelpogo (7704) - Plzen, CZECH REPUBLIC - AUG 14, 2004
no great surprise that the stout was the pick of this brewery´s beers. pleasant coffee aroma, light black, hint of molasses and golden syrup but not a lot of guts kwoeltje (2233) - Manchester, Missouri, USA - SEP 7, 2004

On tap. Pours with a large, foamy brown head that slowly collapses on itself. An opaque black body underneath with some sediment at the bottom of the glass. Aromas are roasty, caramel, diacetyl, coffee, iodine, and licorice. Flavors are of diacetyl, caramel, roast, vanilla, cola. Biscuit, coffee, a touch chalky and smokey in the finish. Pretty dry. Creamy to slightly lively carbonation. Medium dry, a bit chalky. Medium to full body. stephen (308) - California, USA - DEC 1, 2002
Tower. I did not think this was an oatmeal stout. Too attenuated with metallic flavors. Thin. Coffee and toffee. GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - JUL 20, 2006
Draught at the brewpub. Opaque, black with a tan head. Smelled of coffee and anise. Dry on the tongue with a roasty flavor accented by dark chocolate. Roasty and bitter at the end. marcus (10144) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAY 6, 2007
On tap at Alembic (San Francisco). This dark brown ale poured with a beautiful tan head. The flavor is quite malty with a chalky finish, and there is a carbonated mouthfeel. This is a decent stout, although the flavor is a bit thin.
