Dark brown pour big dense head. Aroma molasses, thyme, sweet gale. Tastes very herby. Surprisingly light palate. Very buttery some char. Tastes like witches brew - something out of harry potter. AirForceHops (7144) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - AUG 13, 2014
Dark ruby color with a tiny ring of head. Aroma is spruce, pine needles, parsley and lavender. Holy hell, it tastes just like it smells. The finish has a lingering spruce and herbal kick. THIS should be named Prescription Gruit! damn fine traditional ale, but be prepared for the herbs. Honestly, I really kind of like it.

On tap at Magnolia. Hazy brown. Aroma of light spice and molasses. Taste is slightly rootbeer-esque... sweet but not too sweet, caramel, liquorice, spices, spicy finish. Interesting, and good enough. monk191 (1959) - Portland, Oregon, USA - SEP 14, 2013
A very interesting, classic style beer. Pours a beautiful thick red-brown. Smells like strawberries and herbs, and fermentation. Taste is very sweet, with some more strawberries. Very different taste then any modern beer. Had on tap at Magnolia.

Pours a brown colour with a small creamy head. Aroma of strong toasted almonds and raisins. Flavpur of strong and pungent almonds, toasted malts, grassy hops and bread. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Rich nutty and malty finish. Surprisingly good.
Dark amber pour with an off-white head. Acidic and roasted malt aromas with a bit of an herbal spruce note. Some chocolate, toast, and a bit of toffee maltiness. Light bitter on the palate, lots of roast, spruce, and a light herbal note. Some hints of toast, a bit of grass, and a nice toffee sweetness. On tap. Pours with a deep, cola hued body with a medium sized tan/off-white head that fades. Aromas are nutty, caramel, brown sugar, cola, sarsaparilla, walnut, light clove, medium spicy. Flavors are malty, honey, brown sugar, nutty, cola, chamomile tea and slightly floral. Low bitterness, a bit herbal with a malty balance. Dry finish with a touch of tannin left on the tongue. Medium to slightly fuller bodied, medium-low carbonation. Very slightly warming, but otherwise the alcohol is quite well hidden. beersearcher (2382) - Glendale, California, USA - MAY 19, 2012
Sampled at the Blue Palms Farmer’s Market FestivALE. Another beer where the spices underwhelm. Not a bad beer but not too exciting to my palate. A bit boring actually. DasBierChef (1083) - Hudson, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 19, 2011
I wish I could remember more of this beer to properly describe it. It’s an ok beer, but nothing to get too excited about.
