On tap at the Buellton taproom. Dark brown/mahogany with a smallish tan head and oily lace. Aromas of rich semisweet chocolate, coffee and caramel. Taste follows, with the coffee roast playing off the chocolate and caramel sweetness. Medium body, minimal carbonation, slightly thin mouthfeel and a crisp roast in the finish.

Very sweet taste. Chocolate and chalk. Dry. Brownish black color. Not bad Had this from draft at the Figueroa Mountain Tap room. cuthbert (4) - Northfield, Minnesota, USA - DEC 12, 2013 does not count
On tap at the Figueroa Mountain brew-pub in Santa Barbara. Nearly black, with red highlights (Christmas lights behind it). It doesn’t smell strong, but it smells good. It’s a good-tasting beer - on the sweet side, but in a good way, i.e. not sickly sweet or like banana etc. It’s only slightly roasty and chocolate-y, but that’s a strength here, in that it just complements the good taste. Enjoyable beer, satisfying porter. DedicatedToFun (4000) - Santa Monica, California, USA - DEC 12, 2013
Overall pretty good baltic porter, on tap at the commons ale house in santa monica DocJitsu (1969) - Pensacola, Florida, USA - MAR 30, 2013
Pours a nearly opaque dark brown with red glints in the sunlight. The head was short, but only due to the care taken by the bar tender in the way it was poured. The head is root beer colored. The aroma consists of roasted coffee beans and milk chocolate. The mouthfeel is magnificent. So smooth and creamy with no menacing coffee acidity and very little carbonation burn. The flavor of coffee, chocolate, and dark ripe fruit are accentuated perfectly by the lactose. This is a superior porter in my opinion. Another home run by Figueroa Mountain. brokensail (16432) - Dublin, California, USA - DEC 24, 2012
Very dark brown color with a thin khaki head. Nice roasted malt, cocoa, licorice and dark fruit aromas. Hints of chocolate, coffee, and a light nuttiness. The flavor is somewhat sweet with licorice, chocolate, and dark fruits. A nice coffee note to it, plenty of roasted malt, burnt sugar, and molasses.
