33cl bottle from a local supermarket. It pours an almost pitch black liquid with some amber and ruby tones, and a small-medium tan head that somehow lasts throughout the beer and leaves almost no lacing. The aroma is very light, with just malty notes of licorice and distant coffee and caramel. It tastes likewise, very light flavour of malts. In the mouth it feels very smooth, softly carbonated and with a medium body for a lager. It ends semi-dry, with a mild aftertaste of roasty malts. Smooth and very drinkable dunkel with a very smart and nicely made presentation. This is a best-value brew in Spain. Cuso (8687) - Bratislava, SLOVAK REPUBLIC - MAY 22, 2011
Bottled, gift from Spain. Dark red brown color with medium beige head. Aroma caramel, roasted malt, hints of coffee. Taste, sweet malty, coffee, caramel, chocolate. Drinkable. OleR (4804) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 9, 2011
Small bottle from El Corte Inglés, Lisboa. Firm sand-colored head. Beautiful brilliant dark ruby colored body. Nose is sweet malty with a sourish twist. A whiff of grassy hops. Nice sourish-sweet, light bready malt aroma. Gentle grassy and earthy bitterness. Healthy body. Slick in the mouth. Fresh sour-accented malt finish. Lots of Münchener malts in this one. A pleasant surprise, and a very likeable Dunkel. FunkyBrewster (1518) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 30, 2011
12 oz bottle. Pours a deep cola brown with a small creamy off white head. Aroma is very malty and a touch grainy with a bit of a cola like candy sweetness. Caramel and just a bit of roastiness. Flavor starts sweet and grainy, picking up some light roast and keeping the caramel and touches of burnt notes around. Finishes lightly bitter and grainy. Medium body and a sharp carbonation. Not a very good dunkel, though in Spain it definitely held its own. Palme (4811) - Bergen, NORWAY - APR 20, 2011
0.33l bottle @ Henrik VANØ-Bergen session. Pours a dark deep mahogany red body with a thin off-white head. Aromas thin licorice, malts, weak chocolate and some caramel. Body is medium and quite light while texture is somewhat oily. The carbonation is medium. Tastes are dominated by burned malts with notes of licorice, grassy hops and caramel. There might as well also be some thin chocolate-like flavors hidden in there. Ends quite quickly and hopy.
