Aroma of light cereal and toasted white bread, very faint caramel. Average yellow-orange color, still as water. Stoney mineral in the flavor with semi-sweet bready malt. Medium body with a cloying finish. Very average bock beer. thoramel (55) - Ohio, USA - JAN 16, 2014
Couldn’t find anything special about this beer. It’s a middle of the road Bock. The aroma and the taste made me believe that this beer was just a little off. It was not as dark as I’m used to from a bock and had a giant head that took forever to go down. It might have went bad sitting on the shelf. There wasn’t really any of the spices pr flavors that I associate with most Christmas beers in the states. But that may just be because it’s not a beer brewed in the states. Bottle. Decent bock. Lightish hop finish peeking out from the malt was a little surprising but maybe that’s due to being bottled? Nice blend of subtle flavors with no dominant one - nuts, chocolate, floral, spices - although I didn’t get much fruit, so again I’m thinking I need to try on tap, or in Bamberg. keepersj12 (3137) - Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA - DEC 21, 2013
Solid beer. Pours dark amber with a thin head. The aroma is caramel and bread. The flavor is the same with a bit of hops to balance nicely. On tap at Schmidts in Philly.

UPDATED: DEC 29, 2014 Finally got to try this one again (on tap) after my original botched bottle. Aroma: Caramel glazed bread with some spicy hop character. Appearance: Pale gold, mostly still pour with a foamy white head that settled into an ever present skin. Flavor: Bready up front like the nose, but really amps up the spicy hops toward the lingering, slightly bitter finish. Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, flat carbonation, bitter finish. Overall: Happy to have tried this one again; a well made beer in the style. Papsoe (25059) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAR 25, 2013
Aroma: Pumpernickel, sugar cookie, very malty with a touch of ointment. Appearance: Nearly still light copper with a film of bone head. Flavor: Woah. Meat fest. Sulfuric and borderline caustic. Has moments of pleasure, but those are fleeting. Palate: Medium body, creamy texture, flat carbonation, long, bitter finish. Overall: Very unpleasant.
Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of adnielsen. Pours a clear golden with a white head. Sweet malty nose - perhaps a tad oxidized. Solid malty body, sweet malty goodness with only a discreet hoppiness. Nice and solid - if unsophisticated. But a good one. 250313 jkwalking05 (4743) - Arlington, Texas, USA - MAR 15, 2013
Tasted in 2010 (backlog). Dark brown in color with an average off-white head. Aroma is of light smoke, sausage, malt and light fruit. Taste is of malt, sausage and caramel. Hopswagger (199) - South Carolina, USA - JAN 5, 2013
P: Crystal clear copper body with a thin layer of airy white bubbles that settle to a thin film. Slowly active bubbles climbing to the top.
S: Toasted caramel malt, yeast, cereal grains and dull spice.
T/M: Taset follows the nose with heavy malt, toast and earthy yeast. Apple peel hops with cinnamon and other spices balancing delicately on the palate. Light body with zesty carbonation. Finish is dry with timid bitter apple peel.
O: As a Christmas beer I feel lack of spice was really a downer. A good beer that is easy drinking and enjoyable but not a Christmas miracle. A solid offering none the less.
