Weisse Bock is an increasingly popular style that is strong and very tasty – with all of the fruity, spicy flavors one expects from a wheat beer, and more – but never too heavy on the palate. This rich, dark, and enthralling Bock is refreshing and drinks so easily that one would never suspect that it weighs in at 7.2% a.b.v. If you appreciate Aventinus, try Der Weisse Bock.

GreenCat (105) - SLOVENIA - JUN 10, 2017
0,5 l bottle. Pours hazy brown with big tan head. Aroma is banana, dried dark fruit, raisin, malt caramel and yeast, a hint of wheat and bread, clove, a hint of alcohol at the beginning. Taste is medium sweet, light bitterness, slightly sour. Body is medium, texture is creamy, carbonation is average. Finish is quite long sweet with some light spicy bitterness. In general quite complex, very fruity and smooth beer.

I’m drinking this live at the brewery for the Mahrs Brau Weisse Bock Anstich. This beer fresh from tap is superb...and it’s only 10am. Light smoked notes with banana. Loke a banana on the grill. Beautifully thick, dark brown and cloudy. Cheers!

Bottle. Reddish brown in colour. Very malty (chocolatey, light-roasty, toffee, caramel). Fruity (banana & hint of dark fruits). Spicy & yeasty. Sweet with a sour fruity edge. Nice beer. (2008)

2015 BJCP Category: 10C Weizenbock

AROMA: Spicy/sweet nose of Maillard products, whole wheat bread, and clove-like phenolics. Dark fruit character, especially plum, cherry and raisins. Some alcohol presence and some signs of oxidation. 8/12

APPEARANCE: Dark ruby-brown hue. Mostly cloudy but translucent. Slow, fine carbonation visible. Pours to a large, tan, soapy head which completely dissipates. Large yeast chunks visible, too. 1/3

FLAVOR: Palette is more sweet than spicy, but a bit mild. A dark fruit combination of plum, raisin and fig dominate. Wheaty/bready flavor is present as a background note throughout. No hop flavor or bitterness. Finishes with a slight medicinal taste (could be chlorophenols, but most likely oxidation). Slight rum-like alcohol taste emerges on finish and lingers momentarily. 13/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium body; low carbonation. Feels a bit flat and thick in the mouth but is not sticky. Mostly dry aftertaste. Has the weight of a 7.2% ABV brew, but not the robustness or complexity. Minor alcohol warmth. 2/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Has the basics of the style down, but has not improved with age despite bottle conditioning. 6/10

Mørkt med lavt skum. Behagelig duft med sjokolade, kaffe og karamell. Litt tynn i smaken som er godt preget av kaffe.

on tap @ Valentin - Curious Bierkneipe, Volos Greece Well I read about "watery body", but -luckily- that’s not the case. Very smooth, warm full body with a great palate. You got caramel, chocolate, nuts, roasty notes and a hint bitterness in the finish. Beige head that isn’t stay for very long though. Easy to drink but you know it’s a stonger beer. Not as balanced as the Aventinus, but sure a very nice Weizenbock! Delightful

Tap at Rattle n Hum left work early to grab my 15 weizenbock tick yippee. Ruby brown pour. Nose is sweet brown sugar and cookie dough. Tastes of cookie dough, paper, caramel, bready, plums and pears. Creamy mouthfeel sweet finish.

obguthr (6304) - Staunton, Virginia, USA - AUG 8, 2016
Clove and dark fruit nose, plums, prunes. Clear ruby brown, medium tan head. Prune is more dominant on the palate, bread crust underneath, muted clove notes. Medium body, harsh.

500ml bottle (Random corner shop, Berlin)
Nice amber, tight head. Sweat wheaty aroma, banana. Full palate. Rich wheaty taste, pleasant banana aspects, a little sweet, some metallic aspects. Drinkability decent, nice park tick.
