Pours deep chocolate brown with fluffy tan head. Nose is a touch of soy, and smoke from a BBQ? Flavor is malty, nutty, a little sugary, and quite a bit smokey. Dry clean finish is nice, but not a style or beer I would frequetly buy. (What the heck is a Dunkel?!) trokini (1025) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 6, 2007
Cool swing-top bottle. Dark but clear brown with a big tan head. Molasses, malt, and smoke. Not so much smoke in the taste, but lots of malt, cocoa, and earthiness. Lighter than expected mouthfeel. Dry finish. Oakes (17668) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 11, 2007
Not much pop upon opening and sure enough hardly any carbo. A mean dump still yields naught for head. Dark brown body. The aroma shows milk chocolate, light toffee and a hint of nuts. Soft body. Very low kellerbier-type carobonation. Chewy light toffeeish malts. Some earthiness shows through and just a hint of chocolate. Very smooth and drinkable, if a bit watery. Purchased at Bevmo in a bottle. Creates a thick lathering foam with a dark black beer to gaze upon. The nose is a smooth blend of roasted malt and classic German hops that really soothe my thoughts on how this is going to taste. The flavor is a rich and creamy blend of roast malt and hints of chocolate with a well rounded balance that makes a perfect dunkel DTM (798) - Winters, California, USA - DEC 24, 2007
Poured very dark with tastes of coffee and chocolate. Soewhat thin bodied, but still a great beer.

On tap @ Coles Buffalo. beautiful darlk amber with a little marroon tinge. Taste is a little watered down, some chocolate, cocoa, roasted malts. Very easy drinking. Enjoyable but pedestrian. ganache (5898) - New Jersey, USA - JAN 12, 2008
Swing-top. Aroma of sweet grass and citrus, light chalky/dusty hoppiness. Very malty with just a touch of grain. Fresh and refreshing! Slight bocky (grapey malt) touches. Chocolate and nuts. Noisy, excitable head fills the whole glass when not careful, lacing-rich and rocky cocoa-colored head. Deep, dark mahogany body, but still translucent. Taste is dry with chocolate, nuts, and light cocoa, perhaps a dash of mocha. Nice, downplayed earthy hops, but here, the malt’s the thing. Light rounding bitterness. Light body, not watery, and very smooth. Classy, straightforward but satisfying rendition. thegreenrooster (4402) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - JUN 14, 2008
