Maiella Cluviae is a blonde beer. Fruity, hazy yellow in colour, toned slightly acidic due to the grain and apples used, creates a particularly refreshing taste. The alcohol content is balanced, with a pleasant body, making it versatile with a combination of foods. A long maturation time allows the beer to refine and enhance its fragrance and aroma. Ingredients: Spring water, barley malt, wheat (Senatore Cappelli), 2% plain apple (native casolan), hops, yeast. Brewed with quince marmelade for the "Open Baladin" bar.

750 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet (probably Kvadrat). ABV is 5.2%. BB date 19, Jan. 2015. Golden colour, low white head. Slightly unfresh aroma of over-ripe fruits and cooked vegetables, more pleasant notes of "spicy" yeast and malts. Moderate to low level of carbonation. The flavor has some fruit (apple and quince) and mild spicy notes, less pleasant hints of unfresh malts and cooked vegetables. Not a great beer.

330 ml bottle bought at CitySuper in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Cloudy hazy straw blonde colour with a thin ring of yeast sediments; Half finger head with soapy white foam which fades in 40 seconds; Very good sticky lacing and no carbonation; Fragment aroma of bready malt, with wheat, apple flesh, floral, molasses, strong dough, strong yeast, light lemon and faint grass; Close to light sweet taste of Pils malt, with light tartness, floral, molasses, strong bread, strong yeast, lemon, close to moderate bitter hops and light grass; Mid to light body. Dry and slick palate; Mouth feel is almost like a full Pilsenser, pretty rich and thick. The listed wheat is manifested pretty much in dryness and tartness but doesn’t do much for the thick body. No apple taste, pretty much Helles style floral, strong dough and molasses notes prevail. Pretty good lager-wise… Hoppiness is floral, lemon and light grass in nose and taste. Bitterness is moderate for a lasting, lightly astringent malty finish; Very dry after taste. Bready and fairly hoppy to mouth.

Comments: It seems this beer had a marmalade origin, but what I have here right now is a apple-infused Pilsenser. I have to say the apple element is rather low-fi, has some neat aroma but has no impact to taste, which is full on malty and hoppy Pilsener all the way, which is good, but I wish there’s more apple to the tongue. Quite a nice one if only it cost less (US$4 for a Pils!)

Flaske 0,75l fra Vinmonopolet, Langnes. Delt med Elsa, Charly& ManU under hyggelig middag i Thyholdtvn. 17 Nov 13. Lys gylden. Lavt skum. Litt uklar. Forsiktig krydderaroma. Smaken er litt sitrus med antydning til krydder. Avslutter litt syrlig. Helhetsinntrykket er gress.

Bottle. Pours golden with a creamy white head. Aroma of citrus, some floral and herbal hops, fruitiness and yeast. Flavor is sweet and fruity with some floral notes, yeast and malt. Medium body, soft carbonation.

yngwie (17176) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - DEC 7, 2013
Bottle, 75cl. A more or less clear one, golden in color and with a small, dense, off-white head. The aroma is quite fruity and sugary, some apples, orange and peach. It’s semi-sweet on the palate, full-bodied with a pleasant carbonation level. The flavor is mostly fruity, with orange and yellow apples, some grainy malts and white sugar. A little bitterness too, especially in the finish. Nothing impressive going on, creds for using a fruit rarely used in brewing, even if it’s in the form of marmalade. 131206

larsga (7629) - Oslo, NORWAY - NOV 4, 2013
Gusher. Medium white head. Slightly hazy yellow body with light carbonation. Earthy fruity metallic aroma with spicy mealy honey notes. Dry-sweet mealy honey and peach taste with herbal wild berry notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish mealy fruity wooden aftertaste with herbal candy notes. Nice, drinkable, mellow. (0.75l bottle, from wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

Bottle from Vinmonopolet Manglerud
Orange hazy, white head. Smells of sweet fruits, some yeast and malts. Light sweet, meaty yeast flavors, yoghurt and flour. Moderate bitter finish

What a ripoff. I’m paying over 100 nok and gets this? Italian beer is often expensive; but this beer isn’t worth anything near what i paid.
