COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Magia d’Estate is a wheat ale inspired by the German Weiss. The foam is lightweight, compact and tends to be abundant while the scent is very light and aromatic. It has sour taste with hints of lactic fermentation and slightly bitter hops.

Ingredients: spring water, barley malt, wheat (Senatore Cappelli), orange peel, hops, yeast.

From 75cl bottle. Pours rather hazy and pale with white foam. Aroma is orange peel, citrus. Body is average with intense carbonation. Taste is moderately sweet and bitter, with some spiciness. Finish is short, though leaving some unpleasant citrusy feeling.

Inviting estery nose floats atop a magnificent lion’s mane head sitting on a hazy brew. Tastes mainly of creamy bananas.

GoufCustom (2038) - HONG KONG - APR 24, 2015

330 ml bottle bought at CitySuper in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Cloudy hazy light straw honey colour with a thin ring of yeast sediments; One finger head with crumpety white foam which lasts for 2 minutes; Very good sticky lacing and no carbonation; Fragment aroma of malt, with strong wheat, orange, vanilla, pineapple, floral, strong fruity ester, sugar, strong Hefe yeast, spice, light cloves, light lemon and light grass; Mid to light sweet taste of fair malt, with strong wheat, fair tartness, bitter orange peels, molasses notes, earth, spices, dry biscuits, strong yeast, lemon, moderate bitter hops and light grass; Close to light body. Slick and quite crisp palate; Mouth feel is somewhat off the Hefeweiss style, but the malt is quite solid and so do the strong wheat presence. Strong orange peels spice things up, as does German yeast, which is more biscuit than spicey. Some decent earthy light hops to round. Pretty good!... Hoppiness is earth, light lemon and light grass in nose and taste. Bitterness is stronger than more German hefeweiss for an abrupt, moderate astringent wheaty finish; Quite dry after taste. Yeasty and very slighty bitter to mouth.

Comments: a different beast than Magia Rossa, the German weiss yeast make it very interesting, with quite exacting fruity estery nose and a somewhat simple, dry and dour weiss taste. Overall it’s the brewer impression of their own Hefeweiss, a little off the rail but with some elements that excite. Fun to sniff and quite neat to drink!

Palme (4811) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUN 6, 2014
0.75l bottle. Quite a lot of unappealing brown murky yeast sediment in the neck of the bottle and under the cap. It doesn’t smell or look nice, so I choose to remove it before pouring the beer. In the glass it’s quickly making a huge fluffy bright white head on top of a really cloudy orange looking body. Smells much better now that I have it over in the glass. Wheat, yeast, oranges and a little bit of apples. The green almost apple-juiced kind. Not to bad. It’s somewhat lively on the bubbles and it feels thin oily in the mouth. A bit papery and dry flavors. Wheat, flowers and grains. Some yeast nuances also and it’s kinda floral bitter in a way. Not hard to drink at all, but not something I feel an urge to try again. 26.01.2014

10.03.2014, 0,75l bottle shared with friends @ home:
Opens with a boom, soft gusher. Huge fizzy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly fresh fruity, light malts, hay, yeast, flowers, citrus peel, weeds, hints of dried fruits and alcohol. Taste is slightly dry, light malts, weeds, hay, flowers, yeast, heather, hints of citrus and alcohol. Medium bitterness, slightly dry and harsh mouthfeel, high carbonation. Fair enough.
