16 ounce bottle. Opaque dark brown color. Thick, creamy tan head, about a quarter inch high. Roasted malt nose hints of bittersweet chocolate. Rich roasted malt flavor. Very bitter hops as well. Extremely bold flavors throughout. Thick, oily and chewy. Resiny hop finish. Bodacious and flamboyant.

On tap at brewery. Pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is roast, cocoa, and light caramel. Taste is similar but with the addition of light coffee. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Oily mouthfeel that might have registered as creamy if it was a bit fuller.

Tap at Cask Republic, New Haven. Colour is very dark brown with small slightly brownish head. Aromas and flavors: Chocolate, coffee, hops and roasted malts. Nice hoppiness, very soft and gentle. Superb drinkability. Definitive porter.

Pours black, with thick, foamy head. Aroma is sweet caramel and chocolate, with a hint of roast. Taste is dark chocolate and raisin, warming to a nice, balanced roast and hop flavor. Finish is smooth, with a hint of coffee. A very, very good porter.

A solid, solid porter. No individual flavors driving the taste (like coffee or smoke), but it has a really strong body. Very good color. Aroma could be a little stronger, but could be that the bottle is past 3 months of age. But overall, it held up really well and tastes solid. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(Rating #7301)
