III. More or less black colour, mediumsized brown head that leaves good lace. Aroma is chocolate, ashes, some liquorice and toffee. Flavour is ashy, roasted malts, some toffee and mild liquorice to it. Pleasant and quite easy to drink.

Opaque black - brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is light and airy and semi dry. Softish dark malts, very light roast. A little tangy. Touch of lactose. Trace of orangey fruits. Light semi dry finish. Pretty standard stuff and lacking the usual Maine fairy dust.
Draft. Dark brownish maroon, tan head. Aroma of dark milk chocolate on a subtle pine background. Taste is smooth and rich coffee and chocolate. Tasty stuff. Leighton (21231) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 26, 2013
Bottle at Sander’s place in NYC. Pours dark brown with a strong, tan foam head. Deep, dirty coffee on the nose, good roast. Medium sweet flavor, big and dark roasty malts, bittersweet cocoa. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Moderately sweet finish, robust cocoa, light burnt earthy bitterness, coffee. Great beer. Wonderful balance.

Sample at a NYC-tasting at jredmonds place. Black beer with a nice lasting beige head. Roasted chocolate aroma, licorice, cocoa, peach and mango notes. Chocolate and cocoa flavor, licorice, pine and mango. Nice hops adding to the beer. mcberko (17809) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 15, 2012
500mL bottle, sent from Glouglouburp (thanks Dany), pours black with a creamy light brown head. Aroma is dominated by oats, with some dry cocoa powder and feint black coffee notes. Flavour is very robust for a porter, with the oats dominating, followed by dry cocoa powder, and more of the oats. The finish is, again, dominated by the oats, as well a hint of coal. A highly drinkable, simple, but well-constructed, robust porter. Great stuff. Oakes (17642) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 12, 2014
Dark brown, bubbly head, lots of chocolatey fudge, fairly big aroma. Very full-bodied, complex character.
