Bottle from X in a trade. Pours a amber red with white head. Aroma is strong hops, piney and resins. Taste is strong hops, all pine, grass, strong hoppy aftertaste. Tasty, not what I expected. Doghair (312) - Illinois, USA - MAR 3, 2014
Nice bright hop aroma. Murky dark honey color. At first taste you think it’s just another double IPA then you get the malt. Really nice flavor profile. Lost a few points for the alcohol but otherwise great. HonkeyBra (4044) - Lemont, Illinois, USA - FEB 28, 2014
500 ml bottle. Pours a hazy reddish color with a thick beige head. Aroma is hoppy, lots of citrus and pine, melon notes. Lots of caramel, malt notes. Flavor is bitter, but balanced, with lots of caramel and toffee malt sweetness. Pretty big mouthfeel. Finishes bitter. This is pretty nice. That1Guy (2236) - Colorado, USA - FEB 28, 2014
Bottle split with my Honkey. Hazy, bit chunky pour, red with a kinda yellowish head. Balanced and hoppy. Fruity and malty. Damn nice. rxeight (3083) - Illinois, USA - FEB 27, 2014
Pours. Nice glowing light copper orange. Aroma has lots of hops lemongrass. Taste is hoppy and butter. There is quite a bit of reddish malt in there this rudes the line between the low end of a double IPA a barleywine and a red ale. More caramel malt comes through as it warms a bit. Decent but I’ve come I expect a bit more from this brewer.

As far as the description goes - this is a lot closer to a malty double IPA than a hoppy barleywine. I love this style: basically a full-bodied, well-balanced, strong IPA. Plenty of depth with citrus and spruce hops, and some malty sweetness. GenDV138 (7284) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - FEB 22, 2014
From notes, consumed on 4/11/13. Bottle poured into a tulip. Pours an amber/ruby brown color with 3 fingers of off-white head, moderate lacing. Aromas of pine, caramel, nutty notes. Tasting notes of caramel, pine, citrus, hoppy bitterness. Warm finish. Medium body with a semi-dry finish. umich03jm (3513) - Flat Rock, Michigan, USA - FEB 21, 2014
500 ml bottle thanks to WillRunForBeer. Pours dark golden-orange with a big fluffy head that fades slowly and leaves awesome lacing. Aroma is strong pine, orange, and tropical fruit with some sweet bready/caramel malt. Taste is bitter pine and citrus peel up front, pretty intense. Finishes with tons of caramel and toffee. Creamy mouthfeel that turns oily then sticky. My kinda beer. Love it. brystmar (1314) - Dallas, Texas, USA - FEB 16, 2014
Early pours from the bottle are burnt mahogany, yet mine from the end is cloudy orange-gold. Strange. Scrapersnbeer (1532) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - FEB 14, 2014
Smells hoppy. Not citric; plenty of earthy quality, minimal bitterness. Smooth, clean, and enjoyable.
Aroma of ropey hops and sweet sugary malt. Opaque orange, looks the part for barleywine. Heavy handed, blunt bitterness, semi-sweet, chewable malt content. Certainly feels strong, but not overly heavy bodied. A quality beer for malt and hop lovers alike.
