A pretty nice barleywine, good strong hops and a complex malty body. Rich and very clean icehawk (876) - Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, USA - JAN 4, 2014
Bottle from Luke; Thanks! Awesome effervesent aroma of fresh pine needles, grass, and fresh citrus. Pours dark amber with foamy white head. Medium body, resiny, slick mouthfeel, minimal carbonation. Tastes like fresh pine tree. More sweet than bitter with citrusy notes as well. More body and sweetness than a typical DIPA, so I can see why this falls into the Strong Ale category. Really excellent beer. AirForceHops (8033) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 24, 2013
Label on bottle stamped bottled on 11-14-13. With batch 02 after the code. Lots of fluffy, foamy head that laced for the entire glass. Really great hop bouquet, Pine, citrus and a grassy note permeates from the glass. Must have dry hopped this with bucket loads of hops! Toasted grain and toffee malts provide a nice base for the assertive hop blast that is used in here. Bready malts give it that nice chewy medium body followed by citrus orange hops upfront then transitioning into a grassy/ resinous pine hop that lingers for a good time after the swallow. Texture is mildly sticky. This brew drinks fantastic for the alcohol level. Can this really be 9.1?!! If you can get a fresh bottle, do so! From a bottle poured a dark amber color with a fair amount of head. Strong sweet spicy malty flavor with a lingering aftertaste. jgb9348 (6581) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - JUN 11, 2013
Deep hazy amber and copper coloured body with a tint of ruby, orange, peach and caramel, all with a three centimetre tall tan head - very nice looking. Aroma of bright caramel and earthy hops with a lot of alcohol in place, some pungent sweet notes and a good kick of fruit and herbs. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong hoppy flavour from resin, pineapple, pine and herbs with a good malt backbone, some assertive sweetness and fruity notes and finishing with a smooth sweet and slightly earthy flavour. Aftertaste shows a good complexity with the hops front and centre, some more piney and earthy notes as the flavour goes on and ending with a solid malt flavour and a good sweetness. Overall, a nice and complex american strong bordering on the edge of an Imperial IPA. Worth trying if you can find it, perhaps not worth the money, but compared to some others, this is fine. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 24-February-2013 for US$7.82 sampled at home in Washington on 11-June-2013. hopdog (13191) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 10, 2013
