Our East Coast version of a West Coast-style IPA. Intense hop flavors and aromas of tropical and citrus fruits and pine dominate. A subtle malt sweetness brings the beer into balance.

500ml bottle into a New Belgium goblet. A: Pours a hazy orange-copper color. Very hazy, actually. About two fingers of fluffy, off-white head is formed, and the retention is fabulous. The lacing left on the glass is both sudsy and plentiful. S: Unsurprisingly, its loaded with citrusy hops. I notice grapefruit, mango, apricot, and melon alongside some more typical pine notes. Slight biscuity maltiness is evident, too. While it didnt quite blow me away like I expected it to, its still a great aroma, head-and-shoulders above many IPAs. T: The citrus notes are even more evident on the flavor profile. A huge opening of fresh grapefruit, apricot, melon, and mango provides an evocative juiciness that I love. Mild pine bitterness and slight biscuity tones appear on an otherwise clean finish. This really does a fantastic job of showcasing fruity hops in a balanced manner. M: Pretty much ideal here: clean, crisp, bone-dry, low bitterness, and light. Id call it easy to drink, but this is one of those beers I dont want to end. Soft carbonation adds to the wonderful mouthfeel. O: Its easy to see why this is hyped. As far as east-coast IPAs go, I cant think of one thats on this level - maybe super-fresh Troegs Perpetual IPA or Flower Power? Obviously I havent sampled any of the (supposed) Vermont masterpieces, but Id still imagine this one is really high up the totem pole regardless. And to think I was ready to complain about MBC pricing before sampling this - Id gladly pay $8/500ml for this one again. And again, and again, and again...

On tap. Poured a lemon yellow wheat with a slight haze. Very lacy white head. Palate is dry lemon pine balanced against a saltine crackers grain. Crisp mouth. Clean dry finish. Yum.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Smileys Discount Beverage. Appearance is lightly hazy, light gold with beautiful sparkle, 2+ finger-width white creamy head with good retention and nice soapy lacing. Aroma is citrus, tropical fruit, mild dank earthy resin, herbs. Taste is tropical fruit with citrus and light resin with second half toasted bready malt. Palate is medium-to-full bodied with thick texture, average carbonation and mix of fruity/bready finish. Overall, a superb beer that tastes and feels more like a DIPA than just an IPA. I usually find their IPAs too bitter but this one is more restrained and focused on flavor. Well done.

Funny that the first thing I noticed was how west coast this tasted for an east coast IPA... Draft pour. Slightly hazy yellow orange in color... Aroma is bursting with tropical fruits, mango. Flavor is dry, lots of tropical hops... Delicious ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Cap Tap. Pours translucent gold with a white head. Aroma is mild fruit with a touch of evergreen. Med body. Flavor is citrus/pine and pale fruits with moderate caramel support. Bitter enough, hoppy enough to think dank is near. Really well balanced and very tasty.

strong citrusy aroma of those similar to cascade, centennial, and citra. golden and hazy with nice long lasting head. Taste is hop forward but has malty notes. Not overly bitter and finishes smoothly.

Tap. Reservoir, Waterbury, VT. Just about clear, bright gold. Film of lasting, clingy, white head. Nose has squeaky clean pine, and minty, hop. Marmalade on toast backdrop. Notes of pine needle and sappy wood. Taste is sappy sweet, getting resinous and slick bitter. Light to medium body. Well carbonated, cutting through the sappy chew. Long, light, resinous bitter finish. Great stuff.

Bottle shared by Kyle, thanks! Pours cloudy peachy orange with a white head that dissipates to the edges slowly. Aroma has a lot of citrus with a bit of earthiness and a light grain backbone. Flavor has lots of bitter citrus with a slight earthiness and a bit of sweet grain backing.
