3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a deep brown with a light brown head which lingers quite well. Aroma of vanilla flavored coffee grounds, taste is a rather smooth albeit thin coffee, and pulpy wood taste. The mouthfeel is a bit too thin for what is expected, but if that is increased this would be a great brew as it has a taste which is unique.
1 Pint 9 Fl. Oz. bottle split by 2 @ "D. & E. Tasting #3". Bottled 11 April 2017. Obtained in a trade with AdamChandler. Dark brown, creamy solid mocha head. Nose is basic coffee, mocha, chocolate, cacao, basic cacao, easy low roast. Taste is basic cheap cacao, mocha, chocolate, low dry, very basic chocolate cacao,… Solid easy drinking every day brew, lacking depth or complexity plus I got zero vanilla,.. Body is the same. Decent but didn’t feel top 50 style to me. tapefuzz (531) - Massachusetts, USA - JUN 30, 2017

500 ml bottle from New Beer Ditributors NYC, shared @ In De Wildeman. Black color. Creamy beige head with pretty good retention. Aroma’s: firm roast, mocha, a bit red fruit. Retronasal it’s roasted, mocha, light vanilla. Flavor is roasty, mocha-ish, light sweet. Medium bodied. Long finish with lots of roast, light bitter. Great stuff! fiery_1 (1038) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 25, 2017
500ml bottle @ Matt’s. Spring CANBIF 2017, thanks byronic.. Pours opaque black with a small tan head. Nose is quite roasted with hints of dark chocolate. Flavour is
also quite toasted with some nutty character and a trailing sweetness. Interesting but I’m not getting much for vanilla. Ferris (15300) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 25, 2017

500 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with light bubbly head. Aromas of black coffee and dusty roasted malts. Flavors of same with ash and oats. A bit thin. Can’t get much vanilla. Oakes (17684) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 25, 2017
Dark brown. On the nose, there’s a lot of toastines, nuttiness. Almost has a smoky quality. On the palate, sweet, with a toasty character, and a light molasses. Decent body...maybe a bit thin but the dark sugars are really nie. For me, it’s more of an old ale or maybe a porter, but whatever you call it, a nice dark ale. meccahh69lol (222) - New Haven, Connecticut, USA - APR 28, 2017
Another expensive pint bottle that somehow winds up warranting the price tag from Maine Beer Co. The smell is smooth chocolatey velvety with notes of fresh cut tobacco and pancake syrup. The body is classic stout blackish brownish with a thing root beer head. The taste is rather lovely, smooth choco vanilla that almost gives it a dessert beer vibe, but enough smoke on the backend to prevent any cloying effects. Pret ay pret ay guuud for rocking out to some Waylon Jennings while trying to decide where to get friday night fried chicken product. Jabic (589) - Plainfield, Vermont, USA - APR 1, 2017
Ar: Tannic wood, smoky vanilla, ash, and dried cherry; a bit of pepper, plus some coffee notes. Ap: Deep brown and opaque; medium mocha head with moderate retention, leaves a frothy ring, suds of bubbles, and a web of lacing on the glass sides. T: Ash and chalk; coffee, and dusty cocoa; a bit of vanilla, though with a dry, medicinal quality; medium-low bitterness, somewhat herbal. P: Medium-light body with high carbonation, finish is dry. O: There are some nice aromas and flavors here, but the beer is too dry and the flavors come off as harsh and flat. ludhaber (126) - Massachusetts, USA - MAR 25, 2017
The beer is a fairly typical stout but the chocolate malt does not overpower which makes this enjoyable. There’s no hop notes to speak of and the yeast stays in the background. I has nice malt body. Quite enjoyable but not a value.
