3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Yellow, hazy, with a thick, lingering white head. Medium bitterness. Lots of citrus with a nice mix of tart flavors and some sweetness. Lemon, orange, grapefruit. Great balance, refreshing.
Tropical fruits, pineapple, mango, passion fruit, tangerine, pine. Hazy gold, medium, creamy, white head. Light bitter. More tropical, bitter and unripe, yet somewhat juicy too, mango, passion fruit, papaya, tangerine, pine, soft carbonation, medium bodied. Outstanding APA, rich, intense, complex, well-balanced. Keg at Fool's Gold, Bowery. dinkle50 (1527) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 7, 2017
Slightly cloudy orange pour with a single finger head. Aroma has some hints of dankness and some grapefruit. The aroma is a bit light for my liking though. Finishes with lots of citrus and grain. Lace present, medium body. drsandman (1577) - New York, USA - SEP 4, 2017
On tap as much as possible. Pours clear deep gold, white head. Aroma is orange, grapefruit, pine, cracker malt. Flavor is medium bodied, clean malt, citrus, pine. Medium bodied, well balanced classic crisp APA. bigben873 (258) - Virginia, USA - JUL 13, 2017
WTF? I just don’t get the love affair with Maine beer company. This is a solid good beer and I have never had a bad beer from them but 100??? I am so tempted to give it a 0.5 out of spite. But, I will rate it appropriately. Ernest (7746) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUL 2, 2017
Bottle (Jun 06, 2017 bottling). Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium to dark yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers, orange, apricot, melon). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Another sour-ish beer from MBC that really shouldn’t be sour. Not infected sour, just maybe low pH water? Or they added fruit juice? Or maybe they’re Hill Farmstead fans? Pleasant aroma but a bit docile/shy. No onion stink or other off notes at least. Wish it wasn’t sour, else it would be a decent quaffer.

On tap at the Pour Taproom (SC).
Pours with a lightly hazy amber body and a generous white head that has very good retention.
Aroma: sweet and odd (but not in a bad way), with fruity and berry notes.
Flavor: tropical fruit and floral notes from the hops; faint bready malts. Surprisingly sweet for style: in fact, more sweet than bitter?
Mouthfeel: near medium body with soft, medium carbonation.
Overall: refined and mild for style, this has a distinctive aroma and flavor. gripweed57 (2726) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - MAY 12, 2017
500 ml bottle. Hazy medium gold color. Large rocky white head. Nice citrus hop nose hints at pine. Soft fruity, crackery malt flavor. Notes of peach, hay, pineapple, lemon and pine. Complex flavors, yet a soft silky mouthfeel. Wonderful flavor and balance. Mildly bitter, dry finish is outstanding. A truly great American Pale Ale. jonno (2851) - JAPAN - APR 21, 2017
Another well made Maine that just doesn’t do the finer things to jump it up past 4 territory for me. Well balanced, smooth body moderate to full hopping regime. neongolden (1719) - Linköping, Sweden/Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 14, 2017
(On tap @ Bottlecraft North Park, SD, April 4/17) Pours a lightly murky orange-gold with a big white head and lace. Aroma of lots of bright citrus, pine needles, some floral fruitiness, a little caramel malt, cereal grains, quite balanced but pretty big hop nose. Flavour is robust citrus zest mix, pine, floral tropical fruit like passion fruit or lychee, orange flesh, a little caramel and bread from the malt, resinous bitterness building in the finish, fairly rich cereals for style, lingering floral quality. Moderate bitterness overall. Medium-full body for style with fairly creamy carb. This is a pretty ’big’ APA but the malt is actually surprisingly well layered and the hop presence robust. I don’t normally love this more old school approach, but it’s a very solid offering. PotjeBier (3505) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - APR 8, 2017
50 ml. bottle, bottled March 14, enjoyed April 5. Mostly clear golden yellow color. Rocky white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma’s: lovely citrus. Retronasal it’s citrussy, grainish/malty, earthy hopbitter. Moderate bitter & citrussy sour flavor. Light bodied. Finishes earthy bitter. Nice, but not the best I’ve had from Maine.
