Draft. Completely black color, brown head. When I picked this one up and sniffed it, I thought I had picked up an IPA that was sitting right next to it, lots of fresh pine needles and cut grass. Taste was chocolate covered pine boughs dipped in espresso. Delicious. madmitch76 (25286) - , Essex, ENGLAND - SEP 18, 2013

Craft Clerkenwell. Tuesday Horal Chugging Tasting! Thanks to Leighton for this one. Almost opaque dark brown beer with a good mid-tan head. Light airy palate with fine carbonation. Light dark malts with a touch of roast and a little tang. Light floralness and citrus. Light finish. Another light but tasty brew from this tasty brewery!
Bottle shared at the Tuesday Evening Horal Chugging Tasting - CBC Clerkenwell. Pours dark brown with a creamy beige head. Nose holds burnt wood, toasted pine and dark cocoa. Light to medium sweet flavor with burnt toast, more pine, some grapefruit, darkened grass and rich cocoa. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. Roasty finish, lightly warming, with cocoa and more burnt pine. Excellent. Theydon_Bois (20437) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - SEP 20, 2013

500mL bottle, sent from Gregg657 (thanks a lot, Pete), pours black with a thick, lingering tan head. Nose reveals dense notes of roasted malts, piney hops, chalk, and dry unsweetened powdery cocoa. Flavour is similar, bringing out a great mix of roasted malt and piney hops, dry cocoa, some espresso, and chalk. Very dry palate, maintaining a great balance between roast and hops. Excellent stuff. jtclockwork (17070) - , New Jersey, USA - JUN 30, 2013

Bottle [from trade with Abitker] @ home shared with Caesar. Opaque dark brown to black color, full sized brown colored head. Both aroma and flavor are a very nice mix of malts, lightly chocolate malts, roast and hops. Malts and hops blended together incredibly well, perfectly balanced. Medium body and suitable carbonation. Rightfully in the Black IPA top 50 if you ask me. Scopey (15431) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 21, 2013
Bottle, thanks to Leighton at the Tuesday Horal Chugging Tasting. It pours near black with a gigantic light tan head. The nose is roasty, toast, chocolate, light ash, dark fruit, cocoa, caramel and toffee. The taste is roasted malt, toasty, very bitter, peppery, dark chocolate, earthy, resin, charcoal and coffee grinds with a dry, damn bitter finish. Medium body, moderate+ carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Good body. A big, tasty Black IPA. Another win for Maine Beer Co.
