Pours black with a finger of tan head. Aroma of citrus, grapefruit, light chocolate, coffee. Taste is balanced hoppy and coffee bitter with a mellow sweet chocolate finish that ends in roasted coffee. Light, smooth body with soft carbonation. One of the best black IPAs Ive had.

Bottle (thanks to goodbyeohio for sharing)... Poured black with a thin, khaki head. Some good retention. Aroma of awesomely dank, earthy, pine-like hops. Hop notes similar in the flavor with a good balance of roast and malt sweetness. Bright citrus, cocoa, roast, mild tobacco note too.

500 ml bottle. Pours a dark brownish near black with a creamy tan head. Aroma of lots of strong hop notes, focusing on citrus, pineapple, and mango. Chocolate malt, mild roast aromas as well. Flavor is deliciously hoppy with mild roast and chocolate notes. Lots of tropical fruit and pine hop notes, not overly bitter but firmly bitter with well accompanying dark, roasty, and chocolate malts. Full creamy body, with nice thick texture. This is one of the best examples of a Black IPA Ive ever had.

Pours a solid black color with a huge tan head that persists forever. Earthy hoppy aroma with a roasty chocolate some dark fruit and a hint of cardboard. The flavor is earthy and citrus hoppy with a fair amount of dark chocolate and roasted coffee. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a slick roasty gritty mouthfeel. Nice hoppy porter very tasty.

500 ml bottle from BOTW (Rochester), served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Deep brown-black with a creamy mocha head. Aroma: Lovely dank/resinous hops with some nice dark-roasted malt character, lightly smoky, a bit of alcohol. Palate: Medium+ body with fine, somewhat sparse carbonation. Flav.: Lots of dank/resinous hops with a rich dark-roasted malt backdrop, a little grape jelly, faintly smoky, a bit boozy; dry with moderate bitterness and a long, roasty and hoppy finish.

Quite good.

Bottle with friends courtesy of Aaron. Thanks man!! Pour is deep brown, almost black with a big frothy brown head and great lacing. Grapefruity, cocoa, light coffee, somewhat herbal, piney, grassy, and bready aroma. Taste is big grapefruity, roasty, chocolate, oranges, a touch herbal, piney, and resinous with a medium bitter finish. Medium body with high carbonation. Tasty stuff.

Bottle while hanging out with my son late night. Pours deep brown with lovely head and nice lacing. Despite being stuffy ingot a nice nose of cocoa and hops. Tastes of piney hops, grapefruit, roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, and herbs. Creamy yet bitter mouthfeel. Another winner from Maine.

16.9 oz bottle. Surprising dark pour with a thick tan head. Nose is mostly the same as Another; gin and tonic with a wedge. Hints of musk, pine and melon. Substantial medium body, maybe too much for the style. Resiny with a brisk buzz. Taste is broiled grapefruit and peel, coffee, anise, tobacco and pine. Interesting take but not my favorite style.
