Bottle. Pours a deep brown with a huge thick tan head. Big roasty cocoa and a lovely citrus hop note, soft and delicate. Medium bodied, big cocoa and roasty malt. Lots of dark chocolate notes, cocoa and some spicy hop resins. Big cocoa over a long quinine and grapefruit filled bitterness. Lovely.

Bottle from Capone’s. Pours hazy dark brown with 3-finger clingy tan head. Nose was heavy resiny hops, roasty choc malt, cacao. Tastes roasty choc malty, with resiny hops, charred malt at mid-palate, and a hoppy almost tart finish.

Bottle @ Armin’s apartment, courtesy of lukaduke. Thanks Luke! Pours a deep brown appearance with a brown head. Very roasty, a bit charred, lightly smoky, slightly minty/sprucey aroma. Dark chocolate, somewhat charred, fairly spicy, piney/sprucey, fairly dry, light citrus flavor. Nice brew.

BVery (10510) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - DEC 6, 2014
Bottle from Binny’s. Very dark dense looking pour with a huge brown fluffy head. Aroma is citrus and roast. Not as heavy on the tongue as it looks. Very tasty. Another winner from Maine.

DuffMan (10433) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 30, 2013
Bottle, shared with Parksy, just inside the best before date. Near black pour topped by a lively brown head. Smells like a pine forest, coniferous perfumes permeate the air. Very hop-forward profile, tons of fresh pine, underlying roast malts are there if you’re looking. Full bodied, very bitter. Beautiful.

2014-10-09. Black body with a small creamy brown head. 3++ Aroma of celery and green leafy hops. Flavour is a pleasant melange of green hops and roast malt, with light caramel touches. Smooth average plus bodied palate, soft carbonation. Cellared longer than might have been wise but it is quite enjoyable. Bottle from forgotten bottleshop, NYC

500 ml bottle shared by DrSilverworm, who got it from sloth- thanks again, Chris and Bert! Bottled 9/3/13. Pours a deep, opaque brown with a big rocky tan head that laces the glass. Aroma of earthy, piney hops, roasted and toasted malts, dark chocolate, and leaves. The flavor pretty much follows suit. Medium-bodied, with a bitter, toasty, dry mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Nice black IPA.
