500mL thanks to WillRunForBeer. Pours a deep black, huge grayish head. Rocky, great retention. Nose is grilled pineapple, savory meat, smoke, au poivre steak. Taste is juicy grilled pineapple, bitter cocoa nib, powerful dark chocolate. Powerful hop presence. No less than awesome from this very talented brewery.

UPDATED: APR 20, 2015 My Bottom Line:
Rich coffee, dark chocolate and pumpernickel bread moments are emboldened by precise piney and earthy hopping, creating a somptuous Black IPA/Stout middle world.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy head of foam covers the blackness.
-There is no sense of abv in the flavor profile.
-The finish is quite roasty and coniferous.
-Mouthfeel is luxurious yet not too heavy.
-Citrus angles can be enjoyed here and there.

16.9oz bottle, thanks to Sloth! Shared with local raters. Bottled 9/3/13. Dark brown, near-black color. Thin light brown head. Some loose bits of lace. Awesome earthy hop nose, some roast malt. Some dark chocolate, coffee. Good citrusy grapefruity pineapple hop character. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, crisp, lightly soft carbonation, dry finish. Bigger bitter taste, minimal sweet. Great black IPA. Dry, bitter, complex. Delicious stuff.

Pour out of 500 mL bottle, thanks to Aaron for the pour! Dark black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of grass, bread, slight orange, hints of dark chocolate, cocoa, roast, pretty nice. Taste is a mix of dark fruits, chocolate, dark fruits, nice orange, biscuit roast, finishing fairly bitter, dry. Nice version of the style.

4/III/14 - 1Pt. 9Fl. Oz. bottle @ home - bottled: 12/31/13 (2014-245) Thanks to ajax25g for sharing the bottle!

Very dark brown to black beer, irregular fizzy beige head, pretty stable, adhesive. Aroma: smoky, ashes, bit fishy (no really, smells like fish gone bad, we smelled it with three persons), caramel, mocha, coffee, dried fruits. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: citrus, fruity start, pineapple, bit soky, cocoa powder, hoppy, sour touch. Aftertaste: bit sour, very bitter hops, ashes, dry, medicinal bitterness, bit smoky, charcoal, coffee grit, way too roasted for me. I would categorize this as a hoppy stout, not a black IPA.

[6839-20141009] 1pt.9floz bottle. Hoppy roasted leaf and a light pink bubblegum aroma. Black body with a creamy light brown body. Roasted coffee and burnt toast flavour. Full body. Very tasty, love the aroma. (9/4/8/4/16) 4.1

drank shortly after another one (both really fresh). pours very dark brown with a creamy tall dark beige head, excellent retention and strong lacing. intense chocolatey, milk chocolate and freshly roasted coffee, burnt malts, dark roastiness along with big citrusy and piney notes, never too piney though although medium roastiness seems to enhance that aspect. also maple syrup with your strong morning coffee breakfast - some sweetness indeed. average carbonation, medium body - oily and almost syrupy, grassy-citrusy, lightly piney and relatively short finish. not your average drinkable bipa but it certainly is complex and juicy fresh in its own way!

Very decent beer. Pours pitch black with great head and lacing. Some piney hops, bitter dark chocolate and lighter roast flavours. Medium bitter finish. Average carbonation, and a cool palate for a lighter stout. Tap at brewery.

16.9 oz bottle to snifter (shared by DrSilverworm). Looks good; a cloudy coffee with light beige lacing. Smells good too; dark malt and bitter hops with a bit of bittersweet chocolate. Tastes like it smells, only not quite as robust. Nice and smooth on the palate. A good Black IPA.

50 cl bottle @ tiong, bottled 10.07.2014
Aroma is rather nice with lots of fruity hops, grapefruit and some licorice. Flavour has lots of hops, grapefruit, ash, some licorice and nettles. Usually I don’t like CDAs where roastiness is left behind the hops, but this was good. I’d smoke this everyday.
