3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Kulhuse 15/4 2017. 75 cl bottle shared at Easter Lunch. Maisel & Friends usual design in red. Pours hazy amber with small white head. Settles as patchy thin layer of foam. Aroma is not very strong. Caramel intermingling with Orange and a slightly boozy whiff. Medium carbonation and slightly thick palate. Flavor is sweet. Followed by a sour and bitter tang. But not unpleasantly so. Aftertaste is sweet caramel with citric Orange Peel. Not a typical wheat beer - but works quite well with a heavy Easter lunch.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 10/12/2018. Pours very hazy medium orange/amber/light copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big lemon, orange, banana, clove, peppercorn, plum, pear, apple, light bubblegum, wheat, biscuit, light honey, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast and moderate bready malt sweetness; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, orange, banana, clove, peppercorn, plum, pear, apple, light bubblegum, wheat, biscuit, light honey, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Moderate yeast spiciness and light herbal/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, orange, banana, clove, peppercorn, plum, pear, apple, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and moderate bready malt sweetness; with a great malt/spiciness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from carbonation and yeast spiciness, increasing through the glass. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 7.1%. Overall this is an outstanding Helles Weizenbock style! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and moderate bready malt sweetness; very smooth and pretty refreshing to drink for the ABV. Fantastic yeast complexity and balanced malts. Spot on for the style. A highly enjoyable offering.
