I found Malheur 12 among the Belgians. It is smooth, no excessive wine notes, even at this strength. Yeast fruit balances well with hop and malt. A very nice very big beer.

UPDATED: NOV 13, 2017 Chestnut in color, with a beige head. Wonderfull Aroma dominated by dark cherries and plums. Taste follows the same line with well balanced sweetness. Sweet but not too sweet. Very nice!

UPDATED: NOV 7, 2017 .33l bottle @Haltiatar. BBE 30.7.12. Pours deep dark brown with low head. Aroma is caramel, dark malts, dark fruits, honey, wine like aromas. Flavor is mostly same with some liquorice and hint of alcohol notes and banana notes. Swell!

330ml bottle. Pours dark brown with medium beige head. Aroma of malts, dark fruits, raisins, caramel. Full body with high carbonation. Taste is nicely balanced medium sweet with alcohol warmth. Nice.

Immediatly after opening the bottle there's a fragrance of banana. Unusual for this style, but interesting. Unfortunatly ater the pouring the aroma is not existing almost. Taste is sweet and winery, similar to a Gulden Draak but way less rich and more alcoholic. A bit disappointing.

Bottle. Dark brown color with beige head that goes down quickly. Aroma is chocolate, prunes, floral, red grapes. Taste is prunes, chocolate, vineous, even a bit tart, some port wine and hazelnuts. High carbonation. Stays surprisingly light in its body, but the booze is definitely detectable. A sipper, definitely a good beer, but not as great as expected after the 10 was a really pleasant surprise, but maybe that’s because it’s still summer outside.

Obfita, nieco mydlana, nietrwała piana. Barwa miedziana, klarowna. Aromat mało intensywny, generalnie odrobina suszu owocowego, kandyzowanych bakalii, karmelu i starego chmielu. W smaku na szczęście dużo lepiej - sporo rodzynkowej słodyczy, fig, ciemnego cukru, wosku pszczelego. Na finiszu jakieś przyprawy, nieduża, ziołowa goryczka. Średnie, drobne wysycenie, gładkie, fajnie utlenione, z pięknie ułożonym, lekko rozgrzewającym alkoholem.
Po sporym zawodzie w zapachu miłe zaskoczenie w ustach - poza klasycznym, quadruplowo dubblowym profilu smakowym, ogromne wrażenie robi schowanie niemalże 12% ABV i fajny aftertejs porto, sherry...

Wow, what a rich, dark bomb of flavours! Intens caramel, plumbs and a bit of chocolat. Its almost like wine.

3 years old malheur. Brown, black colored beer with a small white cup, low, carbonation. Taste: alcoholic, raisins, lots or dark fruit, caramel, prunes, This beer is full bodied and has long lasting sweet taste. Love it.

Okay, so I enjoyed a lot the Malheur 10 before this one, but what we have here is superior in every point, and in fact, goes directly to my top-tier list. Awesome drink, a deep and complex strong ale, incredible aftertaste and a pleasure in mouth. Hints of red fruits and caramel, quite similar to the mighty St. Bernardus quadrupel. If you enjoy strong Belgian beers, don’t miss it, it’s one of the best I had the chance to experience! APPROVED BY TAVERNY’S BLACK METAL CREW!

Bought from drankdozijn.nl in a 750 ml bottle with cork. Appearance; deep dark amber colored beer with off white head. Nose; plum, dark malt, brown sugar and some booze. Taste; very nice balanced beer, taste of dark, but not burned malts. Dark candy sugar, and Belgian yeast. Matching hops to compensate the sweetness. Complex taste and full body which hides the amount of alcohol (11,5%). Very interesting Ale.. with the capital A.
