COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In a country with beers named after the Devil, or called "Sudden Death", one called "Misfortune" (Malheur, in French) is just another wry jest. The beer itself is no joke. On the contrary, it is an inspired beer. Malheur is made in a new, revivalist, brewery.

A pale golden yellow coloured beer with a frothy and thick white head. A light, dusty malt smell, biscuity, then a tropical fruit hop aroma with a hint of spice. Medium-dry mouthfeel. A dry, biscuity malt taste to start, but this is only brief, it is soon taken over by a tangy tropical fruit hop flavour, with pineapple, banana and citrusy grapefruit and lemon. There is a hint of clove and cinnamon spice, reminiscent of a wheat beer. The finish is long, tangy fruit along with the spices.

A citrussy, hoppy blonde ale that reminds me somewhat of American pale ales. Tastes like home! Pours a hazy orange with thin, white, lacy head. Nose of orange zest and fresh hops... although the orange could be all esters, rather than hop aroma. Doesn’t matter, smells good. Flavor starts a bit sweet but folds quickly into a dry, lasting bitterness. Touch of alcohol showing through, but still refreshing. Nice beer. I enjoyed this more than the bigger Malheurs, which run too sweet for me.

Pale sleightly hazy golden with a bubbling white head. Aroma is citrus flower with a good amount of dusty hobs and minor fruity esters. Flavor is quite sweet but mainly sour citrus fruits. Not that special for a belgian brew

This beer raises a white and persistent foam at this blond Belgian. The smell is not much, but there is mostly nothing fruity about the smell, which I also find pleasant. The taste is very light malty and has a finely balanced hint of citrus and orange. The hops is not particularly lengthy. It may seem a little watery. As a whole, I find it quite satisfactory, but in no way surprising.
