Pours out of the bottle (with many thanks to tomer!) in a deep dark black colour with low creamy head and medium to smooth body. Aroma of malt and chocolate. Taste of rich malt, roasted barley, leaves, dark berries, torf and chocolate. Earthy finsih. Really nice and wonderful quaffable beer. Enjoyed it.

11.2 oz bottled 8.5 months ago, purchased at Mile High Wine & Spirits. Black appearance with an average brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, cocoa, coffee, dark chocolate and earth. Similar flavor, rich coffee flavor with a moderate roasted bitterness and a dry finish. Light to medium body, a little bit thin, but surprisingly pretty good overall. Pairing: Phish - The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday > Avenu Malkenu > The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday, from 06/21/2009

Bottle from Whole Foods in Berkeley. It pours black with a dark brown, fizzy head. The aroma is hard roasted and acidic with hints of dark fruit. The flavor has a little acid and lots of dirty roasted malt. Somewhat cola-like. Some burnt sugar and dark fruit in the finish. Way too much black malt for my tastes. The mouth feel borders on acrid. High, fizzy carbonation and a light to medium body. Meh.

330ml bottle pours black in color with a 2 finger light brown head that has decent retention and settles to reveal some decent lacing as well. Aroma is roasted grains and chocolate and hints of coffee. Taste is a roasted grain and coffee bitterness with a dark chocolate malty sweetness. Medium bodied with some light carbonation. A nicely done dry stout with a good balance and surprisingly good.

11.2oz bottle shared by Ed. Ed said he had to blow Santa just to get him to leave this, Santa is his cat..meOWWWWW. Well since I didn’t blow any cats I can rate this with a clear conscience. Poured a medium density pitch black with a smaller begie foamy head. Aroma of sweet dark chocolate, wet burnt toast, soy sauce, dark alcohol dipped cherries, sweet flaovred tobacco. Medium body with lighter carbonation and a quicker fading aftertaste. Flavor is sweet with some dark fruit skins and bad chocolate, burnt malts, burnt toast. a touch of milk also. Solid beer

zvikar (6149) - Ramat Gan, ISRAEL - JUL 31, 2009
UPDATED: AUG 1, 2009 From bottle 33cl, pours total dark quite oily for a stout, has a medium chocolate head that lives a nice lacing, an excellent complex aroma of chocolate, nuts, plums, liquirice and some roasted malt tones, dry on the tongue starts with english smoked flavors, accompanied by dark chocolate, espresso, and finishes bitter with a long bitter sweet aftertaste, texture is medium to full. An impressive stout.
