Cask, Leicester Beer Festival 2015. Very dark brown with a beige bubbly foam. Aromas are nutty dark chocolate with earthy coffee and blackberries. Oily with pepper and dusty cocoa powder. Flavours are gritty dark chocolate with earthy, lightly bitter coffee. Spicy with base sweet weetabix. Dry on the finish. Nice.

Cask @ Angel, Manchester. Black with a thick creamy/frothy head. Initially its not too chocolaty, with a more thinnish dark malt taste, but its certainly more evident in its aftertaste. Nevertheless its a fairly easy drinking stout with a light texture for this style.

Bottle. Oily black beer with a filthy tan collar. Decaying leaves, cocoa, ashtray, burnt vanilla on the nose. Good soapy hop under Neopolitan, bitter chocolate, Frys and burnt nut notes. Makes me think of After Eights and after dinner coffee. Kind of festive I suppose.
