From notes. On draft at Hunahpu’s Day 2016 in Tampa on March 12. The pour is a thick and heavy black with a thick cap of lighter beige head that froths down slowly, leaving quite a substantial lace on the glass. The aroma is really good. There is a nice roasted malt, some lighter dark fruits, and a strong licorice to it. I’m picking up a little molasses sweetness as well. It’s a nice balance of the bitter and sweet. The flavor has a little more vanilla to it, which I like. The dark fruits are there, as is the licorice. I’m surprised at how much this reminds me of a stout. There is a dark chocolate on the finish that is really nice, and balances the sweetness of the malts out nicely. The mouth feel is thicker, but the carbonation is a little light and bright. The aftertaste is a lingeringly bitter combination of licorice and dark chocolate, which I like a lot. Damn, this is an excellent offering that I’d never even heard of!

Sampled at The Festival 2015 in St. Petes with Vinny. Pours a deep black body with thick beige lace. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with notes of marshmallow, coffee, toasted malts and wood. Flavorful with not being overly sweet - really solid porter. Brownies, caramel, licorice, wood, toasty malt, and grain rounded out the smell and flavor profile.
