Finish is sweet, malty and creamy with toffee, licorice, vanilla, some chocolate notes, lingering slightly dry roasted bitterness. Medium to full bodied, creamy, soft carbonation.
From notes. On draft at Hunahpu’s Day 2016 in Tampa on March 12. The pour is a thick and heavy black with a thick cap of lighter beige head that froths down slowly, leaving quite a substantial lace on the glass. The aroma is really good. There is a nice roasted malt, some lighter dark fruits, and a strong licorice to it. I’m picking up a little molasses sweetness as well. It’s a nice balance of the bitter and sweet. The flavor has a little more vanilla to it, which I like. The dark fruits are there, as is the licorice. I’m surprised at how much this reminds me of a stout. There is a dark chocolate on the finish that is really nice, and balances the sweetness of the malts out nicely. The mouth feel is thicker, but the carbonation is a little light and bright. The aftertaste is a lingeringly bitter combination of licorice and dark chocolate, which I like a lot. Damn, this is an excellent offering that I’d never even heard of! oh6gdx (26485) - Vasa, FINLAND - JAN 18, 2016
