A O’Phelia foi desenvolvida a partir de uma Irish Red Ale, tendo passado, depois, por um estágio de quase um ano em barris de whiskey.

June 2017 - Bottle share at Leighton’s. Thanks to Scopey for this Portuguese Irish Ale. As ’Maltida / Jameson O’Phelia’. Dark brown, slight orange hue, foamy tan head leaves light lacing. Aroma is toffee, slight whisky, some apple. Body is frothy with softish carbonation. Taste is whisky, woody, cardboard and chocolate. Alright stuff. (6-4-7-3-15=3.5)

Slightly hazy copper. No head. Aroma intensity 4/5. Malty and fruity aroma with notes of wood, blackcurrant, banana and licorice. A bit of alcohol in the nose. Good bitter/sweet balance. Long fruity finish, taken over by the malt. Full body. Complex mouthfeel, texture could be thicker

Bottleshare at Chez Smith. Thanks to Scopey. Hazy deep amber beer, good pale tan head. Palate is light, semi dry and has decent fine carbonation. Fluffy malts, dry cream. Modest vanilla and whiskey soaked fruits. Little must. More vanilla and then some ripe fruits. Light finish. Engaging and tasty.

Bottle shared at the Leighton tasting 08/06/2017. Many thanks to Scopey for this one. A mostly clear amber nut brown coloured pour with a fine mid tan head. Aroma is tart woody, red wine, vinous fruit, vanilla, oak, . Flavour is composed of nutty malts, oak, vanilla, tart boozy soaked fruit, whisky. Palate is semi sweet, oak tannin, moderate carbonation. Solvent. Not bad.

Sweet grain and caramel, whiskey barrels, dark malts, biscuit, caramel. Hazy, dark brown, small, creamy, beige head. Medium sweet. More sweet caramel, biscuit, dark molasses, more whiskey, soft carbonation, medium bodied. Nice Irish Ale, well-balanced, reasonably complex. Bottle shared at Leighton’s - thanks to Scopey.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Paul. Pours deep amber with a frothy, off-white head. The aroma holds dried berries, earth, leather. Medium sweet flavour with ample jammy berries, brown sugar, low bitterness, raisins, grapes. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish, Lilly warming, with nips of vanilla and toffee, more dried berries, booze, light wood, earth. Good fun.

Bottle shared at LKS. It pours deep reddish - brown with a medium beige head. The aroma is earthy, woody, dried fruits, berry, cranberry, fruity whisky, tangy, light solvent, vanilla, jam and Victoria sponge. The taste is soft, sweet, tangy, fruity, boozy, fudge, toffee, caramel, cranberry, warming alcohol, spice,hint of burnt tires and leather. Finish is drying and woody. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Decent stuff. Interesting.

Bottle shared at Leighton’s pad. Thanks to Scopey. Pours red brown with a thin white head. Aroma is malt, caramel, dried fruits a little whiskey. Taste is dried fruit, caramel with a nice whiskey hit. Not too bad at all.

Nose is sweet malts, light spice, biscuit, fruit loaf, mellow barrel.
Taste comprises toffee, , spice, brown bread, malts, caramel, mellow Jameson strokes.
Medium + body, fine carbonation, drying close.
Solid for style.
