COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial is inspired to the dark and strong ales once brewed in England and exported to Russia to warm the Zars’ cold winters. It is a very dark beer, almost black, with a full body and notes of coffee, chocolate and liquorice. Long, bitter finish. Can be paired with dark chocolate, best paired with a good cigar and a quiet conversation with friends

Uninteresting aroma (kind of flawed). Roasty and bitter base with a hint of coffee.

Bottle from Eataly, Genoa, consumed at home Tuesday 14th February 2017 (a departure from the norm’, sees us drinking on a Tuesday night, oops) Black as yer ’at, tangy dark fruits, a little prune but is good. Like it because it’s not too cloyingly sweet and it’s not OTT. Nice stuff. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

Strong notes of coffee, hints of caramel, practically black with a good tan head, medium body, not too carbonated, again coffee, some cocoa and licorice...not one of my favorite but very good.

Notevole corposità, si avverte il sapore della torrefazione e un piacevolissimo retrogusto di caffè e cioccolato. Aromatica, piacevole e straordinariamente equilibrata.

UPDATED: JUL 1, 2016 Pours nice inky black with a thin layer of foam around the edges. Aroma is intriguing - roasty but with fruity/berry aromas. Has some berry vinegar/balsamico notes. Flavour is rich and roasty, also sweet and quite heavy. Not very bitter. Finishes sweet and rich and a little warming. Nice.

Solid imperial stout. Very dark and roasty in taste, long lasting and agreeable aftertaste. Slight hints of berries and for an imperial stout quite a light touch.

330mL bottle, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of leather, red wine, and balsamic -- doesn’t smell like an imperial stout. Flavour brings out a mix of bitter molasses, licorice, some red wine, a little leather and balsamic. Finishes with cola and soy sauce. A lot different to typical North American impie stout. Intriguing, but not particularly impressive. Not so good.

Bottle - Lots of sweet molasses and cola notes. Jet brown with almost no head. Sweet dark malts, dark chocolate and a sweet finish. Very light and sweet.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Alexey’s place. Thanks Stas and Max. Black. Cocoa and coffee with some coconut chips aroma, creamy, bitter, mild taste with some coconut. Full-bodied, smooth, toasted coconut finish.
