I had this last year. Label was upside down, thought production was too low to be on here. It was amazing. I liked it better than charley wine. The sourness was mellow, mostly in the aroma, not so much in the flavour. The flavour was still like that of the regular charley, just with a sour kick. Really good though!! peteinSD (1469) - San Diego, California, USA - FEB 17, 2012
Bottle. Pours a clear caramel red with a slick of tan foam that laces a bit down the sides of the glass. Aroma is whiskey, cola, oak, cherry, and thin, sweet malt. Taste is sweet, tart cherry up front followed by some light whiskey, a grainy malt character, a bit of tartness, and a semi-bland malt finish. The sour component is balanced. Mouthfeel is light and clean over all with heavy carbonation but it does get a bit watery on the finish. 10% ABV is hidden. Quite the odd ball beer with the barrel influence much more noticeable on the aroma than the taste. On the whole it worked for me as I enjoyed this more than the regular version.
