An ode to the Owens Valley and the Highway 395 corridor, this Double IPA is distinctly bolder than out Epic IPA and celebrates the aromas of wild local fresh hops, sage, and juniper.

Reddish but clear pour from 22oz bomber from bine and vine. White head, thin ring. Smell is gingerbread, cookie, and sweetness. Sweet and sugary, honey, slightly fruity. This doesn’t seem at all like an IPA to me, but it is tasty, not sure what i would categorize it as otherwise. Rating based on taste/aroma.

"sage and/or juniper have their place in beers, but i think they make this beer a bit of an unbalanced mess, and take away from the otherwise great hop profile of this beer. Good body, but there’s too much dueling for your attention. I actually liked the milder epic ipa much better. 11/09 had a couple more times...not my favorite, but it’s growing on me"

Fad og flaske: Først taster siden flaske. Duften er tydelig lyng på den ufede måde. Smagen er næsten udrikkelig og den blev til et drainpour som flaske. Helt klart den mest skuffende øl i Mammoths lineup.

12 oz bottle purchased as a single at the Lodgepole general store in Sequoia National Park. The pour is clear golden dark copper with a one inch well formed light tan head. The aroma is caramel malt, sweet resin and pine hop. The taste is sap pine, sweet, almost honey with caramel toasted malt and some alcohol warmth in the back. Herbal menthol thing happening as it warmed. The palate is medium bodied with a slick mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Dry bitter hot finish.

Very floral IPA. Need to like Juniper and Coriander to enjoy this one. A lot of citrus up front after warm. Overall very tasty and balanced. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Thanks to Mar Mar for bringing this up from Mammoth. A brownish copper color with a lush tan head. A semi-sweet, pine, floral and juniper aroma that was quite nice. It is smooth with a balanced bitterness.

Slightly hazy amber color. Sage and hops blend for the smell. Nice bitter but controlled back by the sage. Palette left with hop sage aftertaste.

Bottle at the brewery. No hops in this batch (according to the server), but the juniper berries give it a prominent piney hopped flavor. Alcohol well-hidden. Nice carbonation. Long herbal finish.

A refreshing alternative to the West Coast Imperial IPA,. Great Food pairing beer, works well with direct flame cooking. Smoked Meats, Wild Game.
