Countbeer (6403) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - APR 16, 2016
Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: Black beer. Small brown head on top. The nose reveals an incredible amount of bourbon. Some good vanilla, roast, chocolate, ginger bread (or better: the Dutch peperkoek), mocha and some brown sugars. The flavour is marked by a strong and bit boozy wood tone acompanied by some good roast, chocolate, mocha and vanilla tones. Of course theres some bitters and a bunch of more complex flavours to discover. Aftertaste is bitter, roast, brown sugars, chocolate and mocha, light coffee, sweet coal... Low carbo, creamy close to silky mouthfeel, close to full bodied. Interesting and complex beer. Very tasty!

Draught at Mammoth Lake Brewery. Very dark brown, slim brown foamy head. Big whiskey notes in the nose and taste, vanilla casky, chocolate and coffee, caramel. Nicely balanced. Lingering boozy, sweet finish. Big body, low carbonation, oily mouthfeel.

A decent Ba impy stout. Not too sweet not to bitter, and not to roasty. They seem to have struck a good balance and produced a real contender. I get lots of anise and just a trace of bourbon. Remember that line from Marlon Brando in On the Waterfront "I coulda been a contenda!" Well this beer is a contender.

drpimento (3370) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - APR 7, 2015
Appearance is a decent sized brown-to-tan, thick, fine, slow to settle head, some lace, and an opaque brown black color. Aroma is cocoa, roast, whiskey, molasses, coffee, leather. Flavors similar to nose, with sweet and tang up front, bitter in the middle, and a very long bitter sweet finish. Body is great with some bitter high points and alcohol warmth. Big, big beer. Great sipper.

16.9 oz bottle from Robby. Thanks slim. Smells straight up like rum. Alcohol burns on the nose. Appearance is really black, very thick, nice nut brown fluffy head. Sticks around for a couple minutes. Flavor is good/great. Still a bit rummy for my palate.

Pour out of bottle, thick black pour with dark tan head, aroma brought notes of toast, coffee, chocolate into bourbon, oak, some vanilla, hints of spice in there with a touch of fruit. Taste was a mix of cocoa powder, roast, coffee into bourbon, some vanilla, spice notes come through with a hint of dark fruit at the end, finishing sweet.
