PotjeBier (3211) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - APR 30, 2016
500 ml bottle @ home, from Mega Liquor 8, Alhambra, CA, but apparently now also available in the Netherlands...Black color. Brown head with reasonable retention. Aroma’s: bourbon, vanilla, wood, sweet, light roast. Retronasal roast is more upfront, with wood, light sweetness, vanilla and bourbon. Flavor is only light sweet, roasted, alcoholic. Rather strong alcohol feel. Medium bodied. Long finish, roasted, light bitter. Pretty nice.

Countbeer (6592) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - APR 16, 2016
Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: Black beer. Small brown head on top. The nose reveals an incredible amount of bourbon. Some good vanilla, roast, chocolate, ginger bread (or better: the Dutch peperkoek), mocha and some brown sugars. The flavour is marked by a strong and bit boozy wood tone acompanied by some good roast, chocolate, mocha and vanilla tones. Of course there’s some bitters and a bunch of more complex flavours to discover. Aftertaste is bitter, roast, brown sugars, chocolate and mocha, light coffee, sweet coal... Low carbo, creamy close to silky mouthfeel, close to full bodied. Interesting and complex beer. Very tasty!

A decent Ba impy stout. Not too sweet not to bitter, and not to roasty. They seem to have struck a good balance and produced a real contender. I get lots of anise and just a trace of bourbon. Remember that line from Marlon Brando in On the Waterfront "I coulda been a contenda!" Well this beer is a contender.

drpimento (3570) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - APR 7, 2015
Appearance is a decent sized brown-to-tan, thick, fine, slow to settle head, some lace, and an opaque brown black color. Aroma is cocoa, roast, whiskey, molasses, coffee, leather. Flavor’s similar to nose, with sweet and tang up front, bitter in the middle, and a very long bitter sweet finish. Body is great with some bitter high points and alcohol warmth. Big, big beer. Great sipper.
