Poured from the bomber bought at the brewery. Aroma is of bourbon. but the flavour is surprisingly not reminiscent of bourbon at all. The flavour is more of vanilla from the oak, Lots of roasted malts and chocolate flavours. Really good beer!! Nice dark beer with chocolate coloured head, The lacing is minimal. Palate is thick but finishes lightly dry and almost watery. Overall an amazing beer, I love how the aroma is completely different from the flvour! Bottle @ ZZT X shared by me. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized dark brown color. Aroma is malts, roasted malts, liquorice, dark chocolate, bourbon, vanilla. Taste malts, roasted malts, bourbon, nicely bitter, liquorice, a hint of dark chocolate, lightly a hint of vanilla. Long lingering liquorice, roasty and bitter finish. Medium to full body, perfect carbonation. Wow, this is fucking awesome! drpimento (3814) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - APR 7, 2015
Appearance is a decent sized brown-to-tan, thick, fine, slow to settle head, some lace, and an opaque brown black color. Aroma is cocoa, roast, whiskey, molasses, coffee, leather. Flavor’s similar to nose, with sweet and tang up front, bitter in the middle, and a very long bitter sweet finish. Body is great with some bitter high points and alcohol warmth. Big, big beer. Great sipper. DwarfeD (3539) - Amersfoort, NETHERLANDS - MAY 14, 2016
50cl bottle at home. Pitch black with a medium beige head. Full body with low carbonation. Nice bitter and alcoholic sweetness. Chocolate, coffee, bourbon, warming alcohol, spices, some wood and roasted malts, vanilla and ripe fruits. Wow, great complex BA brew. Christos (5909) - Arnhem, NETHERLANDS - JUL 26, 2016
(Mammoth Lair of the Bear) Bottle 500ml at home, served into a snifter, ABV 9.5%
Pitch black coloured body with a thick pour. Tall and thick dark brown head on top, quite good retention.
Aroma mostly of bourbon, some liquorice, vanilla, chocolate and moccha, smells great!
Taste follows, sweet with lots of bourbon and vanilla, light roasted malts, dark chocolate, moccha, fudge, chocolate cake, quite some alcohol on the finish.
Thick body with good carbonation, sticky palate.

22 ounce bottle purchased at The Davis Beer Shoppe. The aroma on this is quite pleasant. Lots of sweet, mocha, chocolatey goodness. Some roastiness is also there, and there is some bourbon lurking in the background. The bourbon is not overdone, which makes this an amazingly quaffable beer. Gorgeous jet black body with a large, frothy, strong, dark brown head. One of the most attractive beers I have experienced. Starts with a sweet, lightly dusty cocoa-powder like flavoring. This becomes a bit astringent in the middle, before a little ethanol and then some mild woody and bourbon flavor comes through. Again, the bourbon is a bit restrained. Finishes with a little vanilla, before this becomes dry and roasted late. This is some stellar stuff! paiste2002 (186) - Saugus, California, USA - DEC 24, 2013
22oz bottle brought back from the brewery and shared with a good friend. Thanks Kevin! Pours pitch black with a nice tan head. Bourbon nose along with some chocolate maltiness. Roasted malt and bourbon flavors followed by dark chocolates, coffee and vanilla. Very nicely balanced and creamy. The alcohol is well hidden, the finish is roasty, bourbon, chocolaty goodness! Very nice! Thanks again Kevin for sharing this with me. Countbeer (6589) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - APR 16, 2016
Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass:
Black beer. Small brown head on top.
The nose reveals an incredible amount of bourbon. Some good vanilla, roast, chocolate, ginger bread (or better: the Dutch peperkoek), mocha and some brown sugars.
The flavour is marked by a strong and bit boozy wood tone acompanied by some good roast, chocolate, mocha and vanilla tones. Of course there’s some bitters and a bunch of more complex flavours to discover.
Aftertaste is bitter, roast, brown sugars, chocolate and mocha, light coffee, sweet coal...
Low carbo, creamy close to silky mouthfeel, close to full bodied.
Interesting and complex beer. Very tasty!
