A true winter warmer to sip by the fire, Lair of the Bear is a hefty Russian Imperial Stout with an O.G. of 22 Plato. Our brewers fermented this stout with our proprietary yeast in stainless for two weeks then racked into freshly emptied Heavenly Hills Bourbon barrels and allow the beer to rest for 7 months. Enjoy now r age for as long as you like but beware the Lair of the Bear may put you in hibernation.

22oz bottle brought back from the brewery and shared with a good friend. Thanks Kevin! Pours pitch black with a nice tan head. Bourbon nose along with some chocolate maltiness. Roasted malt and bourbon flavors followed by dark chocolates, coffee and vanilla. Very nicely balanced and creamy. The alcohol is well hidden, the finish is roasty, bourbon, chocolaty goodness! Very nice! Thanks again Kevin for sharing this with me.

50cl bottle pours with a deep dark empty void of a body that supports a thin mocha head. The aroma offers up sweetened dark roasted malts, oak and then spicy oak heading into modest boozy bourbon barrel notes. The taste delivers smooth soft chocolate nuanced highly roasted malts, chocolate brownie and then boozy spicy oak notes. Into the finish the spicy oak grows step by step with the booze and chocolate brownie goodness. Yes! This is on the thin side but the tasty rich depth balances that out. Solid.

500 ml bottle. The beer is black with a small tan head, fades pretty quickly. Pretty big brown sugar/molasses note, medium chocolate, moderate roast, good hit of vanilla. Moderate to mild booziness. Light cola and oak. Taste has a bit more roast and barrel flavor. Moderate to medium acidity with a light dark fruit note. Some coffee. Some chocolate, though less than in the aroma. Finish is roast and barrel. Some body to it but it could use more. Moderate to medium bitterness, picks up a bunch at the end. Solid barrel-aged stout.

Decent stout smell. Mineraly taste with generic stout flavors in there. Medium body, high carbonation, and foamy. Blech.

Funny looking 50cl bottle pours a murky black with some wispy, brown head. Nose is molasses, chocolate malt, smoke, toast. Flavor is chewy with malt and molasses, toast, bread crust. Chewy finish.

(Mammoth Lair of the Bear) Bottle 500ml at home, served into a snifter, ABV 9.5% Pitch black coloured body with a thick pour. Tall and thick dark brown head on top, quite good retention. Aroma mostly of bourbon, some liquorice, vanilla, chocolate and moccha, smells great! Taste follows, sweet with lots of bourbon and vanilla, light roasted malts, dark chocolate, moccha, fudge, chocolate cake, quite some alcohol on the finish. Thick body with good carbonation, sticky palate. Amazing beer.
