Inspired by the Alt beers of Germany, our Amber ale has a velvety malt character and a balanced hop finish. German Pilsner and Aromatic malts contribute a fine toasty flavor that keeps this beer dry and refreshing.

If taking account where this beer was consumed counts towards the ratings, this might be the perfect beer. Enjoyed in the common room at the Ahwanhee Hotel at Yosemite National Park and it’s really one of the most beautiful places on Earth. So that being said, the rating of the beer is that it’s pretty average. The pour is a medium tan brown body, cloudy with a smallish sized 1" off-white pour. Aroma has some earthy, tea-like malts. Flavor has some light bitternesss (walnut-y bitter-like), a touch peppery with an every light touch of malt sweetness. No noticeable flaws, easy to consume and more importantly...does not distract from the beauty of the surroundings. It’s all about Yosemite when you’re there.

Bottle in Yosemite lodge. As ahwahnee amber. A pale amber coloured pour with a small halo of white head. Aroma is big diacetyl, caramel, butterscotch, vanilla, sweet. Flavour is composed of toffee, dry, mineral, tangy toffee apple, little brown sugar and cardboard. Palate is semi sweet, drying finish, highish carbonation . meh too much diacetyl.

Tap, amber pour, white head, nose and taste are citrus, hops, malty, okay overall

nice, malt-driven aroma and flavor. organic pilsener and munichs...great combo. if the hop profile was stronger, this would be one of the best ambers, cuz the malt really works, but there is no balance in the finish. the noble hops are nearly impossible to detect. otherwise, a very enjoyable brew. i’ve now tried 5 beers from Mammoth over the last month or two and like them all! 10/09 - a tad boring out of the can"

Flaske: Lys ravfarvet med et fint skumhoved. Masser af malt i både duft og smag. Lidt for ensidigt maltet men ellers ok.

Tried a bomber while in Mammoth, summer 2014. Nice thick foamy head and strong caramel nose. Goes downhill after that but glad I experienced the local offerings.

Enjoyed on draft (as “The Ahwahnee Amber Ale”) at the Curry Village check in in Yosemite, as well 12 oz bottle purchased as a single at the Lodgepole general store in Sequoia National Park. The pour is light haze copper amber with a smallish off white head. The aroma is cereal grain malt, softly sweet. The taste is clean cereal malts, slightly sweet, finishing with a hint of nut. The palate is light to medium soft carbonation with a clean finish. Nice Amber.

Bottle. Molasses malt aroma. Taste - malted barley, molasses, raisin and cararel malt. Very drinkable and mild bee ale. Prickly carbonation. Low hops. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nose of strong caramel with nods to molasses, sugar cane, and bread. A clear medium-amber pour with a thin, non-lasting, white head and no lacing. The tongue is subdued after the nose. Caramel, toast, and malt. Medium body and medium carbonation. Overall, less taste than the aroma indicated, but easy to drink. Thanks for the bottle, Ken.

Backlog purge. Bottle at the Ahwahnee in Yosemite under some alias label. Toasted bread, dark fruit, sort of acidic red malty body.

Bottle from snoworsummer. Pours clear, dark copper with thick, creamy off-white head. Aroma is caramel and toasted malts, mixed nuts, toffee, dates, and light floral hops. Flavor is chewy malt base with some sweetness, some dark fruit esters, and light toasted and earthy notes; dry finish. Medium body and low carbonation.
