COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Robust Porter Originally enjoyed by the working class of England, porters inevitably became a staple in American brewpubs. Our interpretation is brewed with Caramel malt for a rich, toffee-like sweetness and a touch of English Kent Goldings hops. However, it’s the robust flavor of the black and chocolate malt that takes center stage in this dark, full-bodied ale. Pairs well with heartier fare such as short ribs, and chili. 6.0% ABV, 30 IBUs

DocLock (10683) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 5, 2005
Pours ruby/dark brown with aroma of malt, chocoff. Tastes malty, with chocolate and a roasty finish. This one is a tad light on the palate, but very good.

On tap at the Manayunk Brew Pub. Listed as their ’Philadelphia Porter’. Poured a dark brown with a reddish tint and a smaller off white head. Kind of a smokey and earthy aroma. Sweet smelling with light chocolates. Very light coffee taste as well. Body was a little on the thin side.

Draft at the Grey Lodge in Philly. Good solid porter with a nice hint of roastiness

A fine porter from the brewery. Very tastey, black in color, sweet in taste. Nice aroma. One of the best they have to offer.

Dark black with a stout-like coffee head. Smoky peat aroma and a very smoked flavor. Smooth. Big. Good.

I've been drinking robust porters lately and this porter stands up to the others I've been drinking. Probably not the best seller at the brewpub, but a favorite among the beer geeks I was with at Manayunk.

Finally a decent & drinkable beer from Manayunk (besides the APA), black in color, nice soft tan head, very robust, rich malty aftertaste, roasted flavors, great porter
