COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewery Het Anker decided to brew an easy drinkable city beer for the Mechelenians, still peppy enough in order to enjoy it to the fullest. We brew a heroic beer called Maneblusser. It’s a blond beer with an alcohol percentage of 5.8% vol. in which you can taste a subtle citrus aroma and a fine finish. Maneblusser is brewed according to the traditional method of high fermentation with refermentation in the bottle.

The inspiration for this brew originates in the night of January 27th in the year 1687. The moon projected its reddish glow on Saint Rumbold’s tower, which was wrapped in a dense fog. “Fire, fire, the tower is on fire!” shouts the dreary voice of a drunken man. The alarm was sounded and people were making haste to help extinguish the so-called fire. Before the tower was reached, the moon slowly moved through the fog. From that moment on, the Mechelenians are called the Maneblussers or “Moonextinguishers”.

(Bottle, Herman Belgian Bar, Berlin, 17 July 2015) Hazy yellow colour with frothy, white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of bread, peaches and hay. Malty, fruity taste with bread, peaches, a touch of citrus and a gentle grassy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty and well balanced. Quite nice.

Golden color with slight orange hue, large and lasting white head, gentle carbonation. Aroma: very light, fruity and refreshing aroma dominated by peach and lemon, which reminds of a mellow version of La Chouffe. Some fresh grains as well. Taste: again light and refreshing. Starts with lemon and lime notes. Mildly bitter development with medium sour high and light yeast note. Light to medium body. Aftertaste is mellow, with some fresh grains. Not bad.

330 ml bottle, BB date 25.02.2015, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.5%. Pale golden colour, only slightly hazy. Huge and lasting white head. Aroma of Belgian ale yeast, very fruity and also mildly spicy. The flavour is also fruity and mildly spicy, not too sweet. Moderate but noticeable hops in the finish. Well balanced and enjoyable - might well buy again.

Lekker fris blond bier met een circusachtige smaak. Geen uitzonderlijke eigenschappen verder maar wel prima fris, fruitig bier met een lekkere schuimkraag.

2015-04-14 - This is certainly not bad, but somehow not very special either.
