Welcome to the world of bright, citrus and tropical fruit forward IPA’s. This divinely hoppy brew will clock in at 83 IBUs and will pour a hazy golden color with a big white head. Aromas of lemon peel, tangerine, and passion fruit come through on the nose with some dank undertones. The flavor profile begins with an intense hop bitterness that is complimented by slightly sweet, caramel malt in the finish.

Can from the brewery. Clear golden-orange with a thin head and some mild and spotty lace. Head dissipates quickly down to nothing. Heavy citrus aroma, fruity, a little bread. Hoppy flavor, juicy, some rind, soft sweet. Mildly bitter. Well-made fruit-forward IPA.

appearance: medium hazy golden orange, frothy white-yellow head. aroma: blast of citrus aromatics, lots of orange and grapefruit, maybe some lemon. taste: orange zest, grapefruit, tangerine, candied lemon peel, with light notes of almond skin, cracker, and pine. finish: lasting citrus (mango?), but not overly bitter; finishes fresh and bright. notes: Really enjoyable. Extremely balanced, even for all the citra; the bitterness doesn’t treat your uvula like a punching bag. Nice. Originally, on tap at Owen’s Ordinary, and in cool tallboy cans subsequently.

16oz can. Sprouted on 11/21/16. Random find in a local store. Pours very thick, not exactly filthy but absolutely no clarity. Thick orange color. Aroma is strong, smooth, juices as heck hops with no greens or bitterness. Has sweet fruit juice hops all the way. Potpourri of sweet and ripe fruits. Flavor is like zero bitterness with similar hop juice sweetness. Soft on the cheeks. I need to find more of this.

Tap at brewery. Pours clear gold. Aroma is citrus, pineapple, toast, faint caramel, and faint dank. Flavor is dry and hoppy with rich citrus notes, faint dank/spice, light toast, and very faint sweetness. Medium body.

Canned 10/21 Reviewed 11/26 Poured into a standard pint glass. L: A slightly hazes orange copper with a thin white head. That fades quickly and leaves no noticeable traces in the glass. S: Orange rind, Orange juice. Grapefruit. A bit of resiny dankness. T: Follows suit to the aroma but with a candied orange sweetness. Orange & lemon peel, with notes of tropical fruit. A slight medicinal flavor possibly attributed to the sweetness and alcohol content. Faint underlying caramel malt. F: Low carbonation, slightly thin with a syrupy coating through the finish but drinks oh so smooth for 8.3% O: A pretty solid DIPA. One that really gets sought out and sells out quickly upon release in MD.

Draft at Owen’s Original in North Bethesda. Hazy golden color with a large white head. The aroma is nice, citrusy, orange, grapefruit, passion fruit. Flavor is nicely balanced, somewhat malty but also hoppy, fruity. The body is medium with nice carbonation. Solid.

On tap at Gillys Fine Wine and Craft Beer in Rockville, MD. Cloudy, golden-amber-orange with a thin an off-white head and good lacing. Aroma of orange, soap, lemon, tropical fruit and a little floral hops. Taste of lemon grass, orange, tropical fruit, soap and a touch of cloves and floral hops. Medium/light body and medium carbonation. The mouthfeel seems uncomfortably thin for a high ABV IPA. The makings of a fine DIPA are here, but need some tweaking. I'm hoping the next batch is an improvement. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
