Draft at Union Kitchen and Tap - Encinitas, CA. Pours orange-amber with a foamy, off-white head. Pretty hefty stuff, lots of syrupy sugars, booze, moderate spices. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Hot finish with ripe pumpkin, alcohol, cloying sugary sweetness. So so. jtclockwork (17654) - , New Jersey, USA - NOV 23, 2012
Bottle. Pours orange brown with off white head. Nose/taste of pumpkin, all spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, roasted squash and cracker malt. Overly spiced with tons of all spice and nutmeg. Medium body. brokensail (16689) - Dublin, California, USA - DEC 12, 2010
A: The pour is a murky dark amber-orange color with a slightly off-white head.
S: An intensely sweet nose to this beer, almost like melted candy. All spice, clove, and cinnamon are here as well, but there’s a bit of a "turned" nature to them. Almost like the spice container was left out in the Santee sun for about 10 years.
T: Mostly pie spices on the flavor, and they are a bit overwhelming. It’s also somewhat chalky and bitter. There’s only a mild malty sweetness, and not really any pumpkin flavor.
M: The body is medium with a moderate carbonation and a pretty dry finish.
D: This recipe needs some work. Not a very good pumpkin or spiced or whatever you want to call it style beer. bhensonb (15973) - Woodland, California, USA - OCT 29, 2011
Bomber from Beverages4Less in Santee, CA. Pours hazy dark amber with no head. Aroma of pumpkin pie spice, and just maybe a bit of cooked squash. Full bodied - like a barley wine. The flavor is really spice, with a touch of chocolate? The spice is pervasive, seems to be pie plus something else. It’s arguably sweet in the finish, but the spice certainly fends that off. slowrunner77 (13206) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 5, 2014
"2013 - Witch’s Hair Pumpkin Ale. Not sure that they were going for this, as there was no mention of it on the label description, but damn this thing tasted and smelled of PICKLED ginger. Very. Obviously. Pickled. Not sure how you’d get that by mistake, but it was at the foresfront. Most of us kinda dug it, as it stood out from the crowd. Decent use of spices and pumpkin/squash as well, but pickle dominated :) I’d like to have again just to compare."

Bottle from bhensonb. Pours amber with a nice beige head and a pumpkin pie aroma. There is a hearty vegetable and caramel malt flavor with way too much spice. BMan1113VR (7930) - Los Angeles, California, USA - OCT 24, 2011
Tasted via bottle at Beverages for Less. 2010 bottle apparently. Pours with a small tan head over a hazed orange body. Aromas are quite pervasively spicy. Huge notes of clove, nutmeg, allspice and cinnamon. Decent malt back bone. Flavors are lightly estery with pumpkin pie spices. Some rich caramel and a bit of a vegital character. Medium to light bubbles with a decently rich mouthfeel. AmEricanbrew (7080) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - FEB 4, 2011
9.5% abv. SD Strong Ale Fest 2010. Orange amber color/ off white head. Nice pumpkin, brown sugar, molasses, cinnamon, fall spice aromas. smooth medium body. Good vegetal raw pumpkin meat, brown sugar sweet flavors with earthy molasses, caramel, mild fall spices. JohnnyJ (5571) - San Diego, California, USA - OCT 17, 2010
Draft at the brewery. Pours a cloudy orange/light brown, with off-white head. Roasted pumpkin seeds, cinnamon, allspice, clove, and bready malt. On the dry side of pumpkin ales, not very sweet; also it is pretty high in alcohol, I think it was close to 10%, and the abv does come through a little.
