Bottle @ 5th ACBF 2012. A black colored beer, with a beige head. The aroma of some fruits with chocolate. The taste is gentle bitter with some sweet fruits and chocolate in the back The aftertaste is some bitter with notes of chocolate.

Cask. Deep brown with a small tan head. The aromas full of roasted malts, some sweet chocolate, leather. The taste is mildly dry and bitter, then gives way to mild espresso and coffee notes. Approachable. The bodys pretty light for the style, the carbonation quite soft. Overall, OK, though a bit underpowered.

On cask at the Marble Arch. Pours a very dark brown colour with a decent, light tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and caramel. Similar flavours with choc milk upfront and roasty malt. Nice and bitter with lingering chocolate. Moderate carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. Very nice.

Pours thick and black. Huge off white head. Nose is hoppy and coffee. Im not getting any chocolate as the name implies. Maybe its to young and the hips is overwhelming it. Flavor transitions from bitter to sweet. Mouthfeel is a bit to sharp as well. Id like a bit more creaminess from a beer that boasts chocolate.

Black, but seemingly clear. Small frothy head. Quite low on aroma. Dry, dusty cacao but not much more. Some dryness, whole fat milk. But to thin maybe. Tasty, not as sessionable as expected.

Cask at the Magpie, black with a thin white head and a faintly oily sheen. Chocolate and burnt treacle nose with a hint of ginger. Palate is dry and roasty with a full dark chocolate and treacle toffee body. Dry bitter and treacly finish.
